Update: I still think 4 stars is accurate due to the hygiene, but I did go back recently and Ruby gave me the best pedicure of my life. I came in with crazy looking toenails after going a while without a pedicure and she absolutely rocked it. My feet look much more presentable due to her.

-Quality of work: A- -Hygiene: C -Customer service: B
Overall, I had a nice experience here. I got a manicure and pedicure and appreciated how my nails were shaped and how nicely my cuticles were trimmed. I left with my hands looking good and that’s the most important thing. There were a few minor things that could have been improved but overall I’m very satisfied with the mani/pedi itself…
…which is a shame because that high quality work is undermined by missing the mark in terms of hygiene standards:
-Files & buffing blocks appeared to be reused
-I think there was a standard set of tools that were probably clean, but my tech grabbed other tools from here and there that I don’t think were sterilized before use on me.
-No plastic liner in the foot tub basin. Unsure of if a sanitizing pellet was used or not, as I didn’t see the basin being filled.
-There were rings from cups on the front counter and the overall impression I was left with was they the place just needs a deep clean.
The staff was accommodating and nice. My tech had to stand up to answer the phone a few times which was understandable. They were also on the phone when I checked out though, so it was sort of awkward like “thanks so mu… oh, they’re on the phone, hmm. …k bye then.” Just missed the mark. On a positive note, though, I was grateful that what I asked for is what I was charged for. I’ve been to other places that do funky things with the prices and you end up leaving with upcharges and stuff. The prices were fair, imo.
If the hygiene standards were higher, I’d make this place my go-to because the quality of the manicure seems very high. But the experience is undermined a bit by some anxiety and second guessing about how...
Read moreWhat a great experience! I had my nails done locally in my small town yesterday and wanted dipping powder nails. Somehow the nail stylist misunderstood me and I ended up leaving with ombré pink and white acrylics with tips. They were beautiful but once I arrived home I couldn’t stand the feel and thickness on my nails. By this morning I clipped them all off, they were so uncomfortable. Back story, I hadn’t had a professional manicure for several years and had no idea what I was doing. I researched everywhere within a 40 mile radius for a salon who could remove these acrylics and came across Derma Nails who had many outstanding reviews and made a removal appointment for this afternoon! Upon arrival everyone was so kind. They thoroughly explained the difference between all the nail services and after removal my nails were so short ( because I cut them short ) I needed tips again. My nail artist named Helen was so lovely and kind and patient even though they hadn’t originally or ever done a nail service for me. She had a big job taking those nails off and starting over with dipped powder nails with tips. She talked me through the whole process and Voila! When she was finished my nails were perfection and so comfortable! They look natural and gorgeous! I will return here again and again and I found the best nail stylist on the planet! Thank you Derma Nails for rescuing me from my mistake the day before. Just in time for Sweetest Day tomorrow when I celebrate with my husband our first date 50 years ago on Sweetest Day! UPDATE: I have received so many compliments on my nails from people! Can’t wait for my next dipping powder nails appointment at...
Read moreSuper disappointing first impression, I understand that it’s busy but the lady i talked to at the counter was rude. Came in for just a nail repair (regular nails with gel) and she first asked if i got them done there and i said no then proceeded to say well you’re not a priority because we have customers right now and that no one could do it for me even though it would’ve probably taken 5 minutes. It felt embarrassing because everyone in the salon was looking at me and i tried to tell her I had a flight to catch that this was last minute but nope still rude. Went to h2o nails down the street and they were sweet.
Update: Let me make this clear. I completely understand been booked and having your appointments as priority. I didn’t appreciate the attitude towards me, as much as you would like to say she was nice.. she wasn’t I know how I felt she was being condescending and was being loud which was also embarrassing. I also work in the service industry so I respect putting the “paying” and loyal clients first I didn’t appreciate the reception I got. I couldn’t come back because I was on a time crunch. So my review and reply will stay as is. Shame on you for trying to make it seem like I was acting entitled or rude because I didn’t get my way, I didn’t like how I felt in the moment by the interaction is all....
