I have been a member here for over a year and certainly recommend it. I started at age 40 after realizing my current fitness plan wasn't working. In fact, it was failing. Prior to joining, I heard all the rumors about Crossfit. "Itâs a cult", "It's not safe"......
Here is what I discovered at Friendship Crossfit:
The staff is extremely helpful. Since membership varies from out of shape beginners to skilled athletes they spend the extra time to adjust the strength building pieces and workouts to the individual. I have never felt pressure to lift as much as the person next to me. I have only been encouraged to focus on improving my form and effort to get better.
The pacing is appropriate. The program is designed to begin with at least two to three weeks of orientation classes. It's a workout, but its primary purpose is to teach you the movements in a small group setting with other beginners. After On Ramp, you move to any of the classes offered each day.
You won't be pressured to buy sports drinks or supplements. Obviously, diet is a key factor to fitness. You may hear about some healthy recipes or optional diet challenges. However, the focus is always around encouraging you to get healthier....not making money by selling product.
You will be sore. Patience and determination are important as you introduce/reintroduce these movements to your body. All members are sore as the workouts are always changing.
Warning!!! The owners here are very intentional about building and maintaining community. Don't be surprised if you are invited to work out with a partner, attend a social event or participate in a charity event. Relationships are truly valued here and it makes the experience much more enjoyable.
For me, this gym provides the perfect balance and has allowed me incorporate fitness into my lifestyle rather than the grind of the mega gym or treadmill. I look forward to...
Read moreAfter a few years away from the gym, or any consistent physical activity for that matter, I joined Friendship CrossFit. Why CrossFit? Well, a very well-timed email from the owner checking in with me and asking if I ever thought about coming back to Friendship CrossFit prompted my return. Like re-entry of any kind, it sucked. It's hard going to a place when you know the workouts will be tough, the journey youâre about to embark on is going to be tougher, and you will probably be the most out-of-shape person in the place â all of which was probably true when I started at Friendship this past April. I was 350 lbs., not happy, extremely self-conscious, and heading down a path, health-wise, that I knew didnât have a happy ending.
Today, December 13th, roughly 8 months later, I am officially 100 pounds lighter.
The positive impact that this journey has had on so many different facets of my life, family, work, and relationships, is amazing. Itâs still hard to believe the huge change that has occurred in such a short time.
So, how did this happen? Hard work, yes. Determination, yes. Focus on nutrition, yes. But the main reason are the people at this place. From the owner, to the coaches, to the members. Every single person pushes you to be better. The support and encouragement you get everyday is unreal. The added benefit: it holds you accountable. I could go on and on, but if you need to make a positive change in your life, for any reason, reach out to these guys. Reach out to one of the coaches. It will be the best decision you ever made. Thank you, Jeff, for sending that email back in April. And, thank you, Andy â you are my...
Read moreI have been CrossFitting for two years and wanted to try out one of the local boxes when I was in Columbus for the OSU - Nebraska football game. A quick internet search led me to Friendship CrossFit in Dublin, OH. I went to the 10:00 am WOD on Saturday morning with a friend of mine and was very impressed with everything.
First-and most important to me-the people at Friendship CF were great. As soon as I walked in the door, I was greeted by Jeff, the owner, and Jay, one of the coaches. They were very friendly and recommended some great OSU football experiences as soon as they found out why I was in town. The box itself was also great: very spacious and well thought out. They have a great pullup rig in the center of an open space, with lots of room on either side for other movements. They have a couple ropes (I can't remember how many) hanging from the ceiling and four rowing machines. They had enough Olympic bars and weights to accommodate ~15 people doing heavy dead lifts. The box has a garage opening and a 400m route through the parking lot traffic.
The WOD itself was pretty cool (death by walking lunge immediately followed by death by burpees and finishing with a 10 min EMOM on 1 rep 80% max deadlift + 3 max height jumps. It was challenging and fun. The coaches (Jeff and Jay) were nice and even took the time to critique my dead lift. This was an unexpected (and appreciated) occurrence considering I was a guest CrossFitter and they had 15 members there.
I would recommend Friendship CF to anyone who is local and considering CF or people who are in town for a few days. I plan to go back next time...
