Well, as an opener, (most) of the staff were very friendly, but that was the extent of it. I paid for one gel set, gel manicure and pedicure, and removal, and then a polish change. My appointments, each time, were really screwed up. I had to leave and come back twice, on two separate days, because they booked me when no one was available for gel application or removals. One receptionist felt really bad for me and told me she would contact the manager for a discount, and I guess that wasn't approved. Anyway, one gel extension broke the third day I had it when I opened a paper package carefully. Alright, fine. It happens. (Did you know that a gel extension bond is not guaranteed past the first 48 hrs? That's what they told me.) I was also told none of this would harm my natural nails, which was the only reason I got them. It sounded fancy and safe for my nails, and I was going on vacation. Turns out, that is not true in many cases, (like if someone washes their hands a lot normally, their ph can affect the bond, or so I was told on my last appointment) - Which meant that the nail tech couldn't/wouldn't get my gels off. After being there for twice as long as I was told I would be, the tech left a layer of gel on my natural nails, put polish over it, filed them so crookedly it was unreal (when I said that they were crooked, she told me to trust her that they were straight - I literally went home and refiled my nails while my friend watched in amazement that this manicure was "professional") she also told me the leftover gel she didn't remove would probably peel off eventually, or not, and I could buy a special file and do it myself at home, and sent me off. It's been a couple weeks and my natural nails are destroyed. This place had terrible insane scheduling problems, did not explain the risk to my natural nails with honesty/education, gave me the worst manicure on earth over my destroyed nails, and something like $300 later my natural nails are just damaged until they fully grow out, which will be months. I was not resistant to anything they told me to do for care and upkeep, I was polite and not argumentative, I tipped well because I understand the service industry is rough, but my experience was incredibly awful overall. That's a real bummer, because I was trying to find somewhere to go regularly, and the staff was mostly polite, and for all their talk about how cheap nail salons damage your nails, I'm sitting here looking at mine that are now ten different thicknesses and dried out and peeling, regretting fully my patronage of this business. My natural nails, before this, and for my entire life, were strong and healthy. This damage is all fully, fully because of the services I received at W Nail bar. And I think they know this was a disaster, like they saw this unfold too, and seemed thankful I wasn't throwing a huge fit in there, but I mean, this was really irresponsible from start to finish and now my nails have to recover for months. Goodbye, W Nail Bar, you were several successive disasters for me and...
Read moreI can't figure out how to respond to the owner's note below so editing my review to respond. I did not complain previously about any poor experiences as I mentioned in the review below.
I was told I could not receive a one time grace exemption from the fee because of the previous scheduling error. You noted in email that you typically do offer a first time forgiveness, but I had already used it on the May appointment. When in fact, that was your error. I showed grace in May and did not complain or cause an issue. I would expect you show the same in return to any customer - especially a once loyal customer.
I also work hard for my money.
Because of the convenience and the kind people who work at W Nail in GV, I've been a loyal customer for years. However, after several bad experiences and reaching out to their team to rectify with no avail, I am officially taking my business elsewhere. I plan to still support small business by moving to Lacquer. They have an amazing space and a larger collection of gel colors.
A brief summary of my experiences that led me to this decision are below: Poor quality control. On multiple occasions my nails looked like I did them myself, and I am no nail artist Painful gel removal. It was so painful the last time, I decided to switch to regular polish so I didn't have to experience it again Scheduling issue. In May, my appointment was messed up. I scheduled for a mani + removal for myself and a mani + pedi for my friend. When confirming the appointment I was told it would be about 2 hours. When we got there they had booked our appointments back-to-back instead of concurrently. We had to cancel a portion of the appointment to still make our friend's rehearsal dinner.
I did not write a bad review or complain for any of these issues.
The last straw was this week. This time I made a scheduling error, booking the appointment one week before I meant to. I reached out to see if they could help me remove the $80 charge since it was my first offence in the 5+ years I have been a patron to W Nail salons. They declined to do so because of the former scheduling error on their part.
The time and money they've cost now outweighs the...
Read moreCUSTOMERS BEWAREThe place is DIRTY. State board would have a field day writing fines. They don’t use proper disinfection techniques(like letting disinfectant sit on the pedicure bowls for 10 minutes like they are legally supposed to to kill everything, which means you can get all types of infections including blood borne infectious diseases, yes it is that serious to disinfect properly.) they just fill it right back up after scrubbing it with a dirty sponge that has everyone foot germs on it & spraying with the disinfectant. (Which, why even waste the disinfectant at that point?? Also, I don’t want to soak in a tub with disinfectant in it, it should be rinsed out AFTER sitting for the proper time) I’ve seen the back room & it’s horribly gross with product everywhere, and mold growing under the sink (which the room is hiding behind an absolutely DISGUSTING curtain with stains all over it) I find it hard to believe the metal tools are disinfected properly when the whole place is so blatantly disgusting, there were a few flys and gnats flying in the room when I was in and the floors are 1.falling apart with large holes in several areas and 2. covered in black sludge and nail clippings and what I’m assuming is scrub? And they are sticky with shoe prints in some areas. the shelves AND products are covered in dust. but yet the company preaches on social media cleanliness is their top priority?? If that’s the top then yikes. My tech said it’s always been like this, and that nothing ever changes & that they were said to be the cleanest location???? I would never ever get a service here or any location again & if you do don’t be surprised if you get an infection & I encourage you to REALLY look at the cleanliness & cleaning practices of the places you allow to touch you with sharp tools🤢🤢 I’d be scared to know when the last time the pedicure bowls & metal tools were PROPERLY cleaned and...
