I absolutely LOVE this place. I moved to FL in June 2022, but was a member of The Idea Foundry for about a year before I moved. I can’t quite remember how I came across this company, but I had a huge hankering to create. If you’re looking for a new hobby, want to get those creative juices flowing, or just want to explore, this is the place for you. I signed up for a woodworking class (u cant use the machines unless you can prove you know what you’re doing, obvi) and was super nervous bc I thought I’d be the only person in the group to have zero woodworking (WW) experience. Surprisingly, it was a mixed bag of ages, experience, gender. The instructor was incredible (how I wish I remembered his name)! I made some friends too. Unfortunately, there isn’t an Idea Foundry in St. Petes. Try something new, get your booty up, & just take a class or two!!
[my only complaint would be: I think I took the WW on a Saturday. I was late and called like 30 mins before to notify them i’d be late. when I got there, the building looked deserted & the doors were locked. it took me, probably another 20 mins, to actually get in. the instructor & the people in the WW class were the only people in the building. there really needs to be a way to contact SOMEONE on the weekend when there are classes.]
A few months after the WW class my dad and I took a class on stained glass. It was fun- we had a hoot! tbh, way more difficult than I anticipated. stained glass is no joke 😱
*this is not an ad. did not receive compensation. 😂 I just liked this place a lot.

Read moreWhile the Columbus Idea Foundry is primarily a co-working space for its members, public events and/or invitation-only events for non-members] are also held there.
I have attended the three below events, so far, at the Columbus Idea Foundry.
• Columbus Advisory Committee on Disability Issues [CACDI
• Microdosing Psychedelics: A DIY [Do It Yourself] Mental Health Movement [hosted by Mind Manifest Midwest and Cap City Biohackers] 8-27-2018]
• Equality Ohio Stakeholder Summit [9-30-2018]
While definitely a great location for able-bodied people [and there is an elevator between the first floor and the second floor], the Columbus Advisory Committee on Disability Issues [CACDI] quickly learned that the Columbus Idea Foundry is nearly impossible to travel to via public transportation if you are a wheelchair user because Lucas St., a poorly-maintained brick street with intermittent sidewalks on the east side of the building, is nearly impossible to navigate for people who use...
Read moreThis new location for the Columbus Idea Foundry is great. There’s a lot more space for equipment, classes, studios, etc. I've taken several classes and attended a few events there, and everyone I come across is knowledgeable, helpful, and nice. You can tell they’re all excited about what they do. If you've never been, check it out and take a class or attend an event there, and prepare...
