Stepping into the opulent realm of Hotel LeVeque in Columbus, Ohio, one is immediately struck by the grandeur of its architectural splendor. However, beneath the veneer of luxury lies a collection of unfortunate shortcomings that undermine the promise of an unforgettable stay.
Aesthetic Ails: While the hotel's beauty is undeniable, the devil lurks in the details. The poorly designed toiletry bottles in the showers serve as a poignant reminder of misplaced elegance. Instead of providing convenience, these bottles prove to be irksome contraptions that necessitate an unwarranted twisting ritual to dispense their contents. Such an oversight inadvertently obstructs other bottles, leaving guests grappling with the most basic of necessities. We had to remove the conditioner bottle just to use some. It was also odd there wasn’t bar soap available for the shower.
Dimmed Celestial Wonders: Hotel LeVeque boasts a star gazing machine, a celestial spectacle meant to dazzle guests with its luminous display. Yet, amidst the captivating universe, the luster fades as key features, such as "moving" and "shooting star," remain disappointingly broken. These celestial glitches mar the immersive atmosphere, and left us yearning for a seamless cosmic experience.
A Window to Embarrassment: Privacy is an essential facet of any hotel stay, especially within the confines of a bathroom. Regrettably, the sliding door for the bathroom features a noticeable gap, inadvertently exposing guests to the prying eyes of those outside. This lack of foresight in design compromises the sanctity of one's personal space and diminishes the sense of comfort that a hotel room should exude. Not a big deal with couples, but a big deal for us and our kids lol
A Bridge to Nowhere: Even the most exquisite accommodations falter when practicality is forsaken. The hotel's connected garage to the north initially appears to be a seamless convenience. Alas, the promise of ease turns to frustration as room keys prove unable to unlock the bridge to access the hotel. We rang the doorbell from the garage multiple times but staff never answered. When we finally went down and walked around to the hotel entrance, there was no staff to be seen.
Mobile Key Mobile key did not work. Never have an issue with Hilton properties but 100% expect a Marriott Autograph Collection property to work.
Conclusion: Hotel LeVeque radiates with elegance and charm, but it was honestly too hard for me to ignore these inconveniences and oversights that overshadowed an otherwise awesome experience. This hotel possesses the potential to be an unparalleled gem in...
Read moreDo Not Use The Valet! As a property that prides itself on providing a high-end experience, you will be disappointed. We had two issues with valet on two separate stays (in the same week).
1.) The gentleman who delivered our car must have hit the trunk release button and opened the trunk without us knowing. We did not put anything in the trunk before we left so we didn't think to check it before pulling out. We were on the interstate before we realized it was hanging wide open and our Christmas presents were falling out. I called the hotel and they said "they can't accept liability" and the valet "can't prove it was their fault".
2.) This one was even more problematic... we received a call at 9:40AM ET explaining that our car was broken into overnight (7 hours AFTER it happened!). We valeted the car hoping to have it stored in a secure area with cameras because it was full of luggage and presents we were returning home. The incident was discovered at 2:30AM ET in their garage. 5 vehicles were broken into that night. Our car was left unattended for 2.5 hours when a homeless man was discovered sleeping in one of the cars at 5AM ET. Police decided that "taking his information" and "letting him go" would suffice as proper procedure. We were told by the hotel that they could not accept liability because the valet was contracted and didn't work for the hotel. The valet explained that they can't accept liability because they "rent the parking spaces from another valet company". My wife and I were left cleaning out our car, inventorying what was taken, filing a police report, and figuring out how to get our window fixed in a city that we do not live in. With very little help from the hotel management. Our car sat for over 7 hours before we were aware that the front window was smashed and our stuff was taken. The video cameras "were out of service" that night so nothing was captured. Something I think the hotel could alert you of when going to park.
Not the experience you would expect from a hotel that markets itself as an experience and charges $45/night to park your vehicle. We will NEVER...
Read moreI recently spent a weekend at Hotel Leveque with my family, opting for this boutique hotel over The Joseph after careful consideration. It was a delightful experience, enhanced by the hotel's subtly charming design and a cozy ambiance. Not too fancy, it struck the right balance of comfort and elegance. The staff, particularly at the front desk, were friendly and welcoming.
I appreciate that they recognized my Platinum status. I had actually requested the suite upgrade, which they graciously provided. We were upgraded to a junior suite and also allowed a late checkout. The weather was freezing, around 10°F, so we spent a lot of time inside. The view from our room was a bit disappointing, mainly showing the walls of adjacent buildings. This unfortunately resulted in limited natural light entering the room, contributing to a somewhat claustrophobic feeling. However, I can’t really complain as they fulfilled my request for an upgrade, and I’m not entitled to a specific room type. In retrospect, a room with a better view, even if smaller, might have been more enjoyable.
The standout feature of the room was definitely the bathroom. It was huge, spacious, and impeccably clean. The design and color scheme were particularly impressive, adding a touch of elegance to our stay.
I was a bit surprised and disappointed to find Keurig machines in the room; I expected Nespresso machines, which are more common in upscale hotels nowadays.
The valet service at the hotel was slightly expensive at $45 per night and appeared to be understaffed. At the time of checkout, which was on a Monday afternoon and wasn’t even busy, we waited for over 30 minutes to get our car. I wish there had been better communication about the delay, as it would have been helpful and appreciated.
The service was excellent and the restaurant was great. Despite a few minor drawbacks, our overall stay at Hotel Leveque was quite enjoyable and definitely worth...
