Rapidly replaced AMC as our chain theatre of choice - still prefer the Gateway, but really only bc we can ride our bikes there, and bc it's independent. Otherwise, Marcus is vastly superior in terms of concessions selections/prices, seats, reliability, screen brightness, and sound.
Update, 4 months later: sadly I'm downgrading the review from 5 stars to 2, and I'm only not giving it a 1 bc I still appreciate the quality of concessions and the friendly employees.
Every movie I've seen here in the last 4 months (including on the Ultra Screen DLX, ScreenX, and regular Dolby theatres) has been progressively dimmer, to the point where it's no longer worth going here at all.
Just got out of Black Phone 2 in the Super Screen DLX, and it was a ridiculously dim picture. Either they have multiple bulbs that have burned out in each theatre that they've just decided not to replace, or they're purposefully setting the brightness down to the lowest possible setting, maybe to save money on electricity? It's either carelessness or a money-saving tactic, and either way I won't be wasting my money here unless they fix it in all the theaters.
If there are any evening scenes (or really any that are not in bright sunlight), you will not be able to make out any details, and in Black Phone, since there were so many nighttime scenes, you couldn't even make out what was happening most of the time.
I think tonight was the last straw for us, which is a real bummer, bc we had really been enjoying this theater.
If anyone from Marcus is reading this, why are you shooting yourselves in the foot like this? This likely explains why on a Friday night your theater is...
Read moreI just knocked off two stars. The bathrooms need repair and cleaning. The manager(s) are too young for the responsibilities they have -- they stand around telling everybody else what to do, while they stand up front and chat (it's worse on Friday and Saturday nights when they chat with the special duty officer. The app screwed up our food order twice last night, indicating our order didn't go through, but it was charged to our bank twice. I tried to do a chat to fix that, but everything I tried to submit it, I got a message that it had timed out. (And don't get me started on trying to enroll online for the moviegiers' promo.) We got to the theatre today, and there was no food order at all. We stood in line waiting to have our tickets scanned, three skinny teen girls walked in front of everybody (but the female ticket taker told them they needed to go back), but the male ticket taker took those three "cutesie" girls in front of all the parents, grandparents, and children in line. I usually like this theater, but you all sure did a grand faux pas today. Uck.
It gets better. Our seats were moved without us being asked. There were no other seats selected when I got our tickets. I ordered the seats I always order G14, G15, G16, G17. Get our tickets, we've been moved to G5, G6, G7, AND G8. THERE ARE TWO TEENAGE BOYS IN THE SEATS WE USUALLY SIT IN. CONGRATULATIONS, I'LL JUST WAIT FOR STUFF TO COME TO...

Marcus theaters even has an intuitive app through which you can purchase your tickets, select your seats, and even buy your food in advance so you can skip the line.
Only 3 reasons why I hesitated to give a 5-star rating…. So keep on reading
Because the base theaters do not deliver the best sound system, which is one of the prime reasons why I go to “experience” a movie. It’s worth the few extra dollars to upgrade to the bigger screen, Dolby digital surround, 3D screens. You’ll still beat the price in comparison to Easton and Polaris which have more traffic too. Limited choices and not as convenient in terms of places to eat and grab a drink before or after within walking distance, when compared to Polaris or Easton which are part of malls. However, the benefit of this is that there is minimum traffic and smaller crowds, which means better seat selection. Lots of construction in the immediate surrounding area and lots, so make sure you enter from the west service road in order to avoid getting lost in the construction detours. Looks like the city is building more apartment buildings in the movie theater’s parking lot, which could drive more traffic to the area, but in the meantime, makes the outside look less than...
