One of my biggest fears is going to a salon to get my hair done and leaving feeling like not myself. This will be my lesson to make sure that my stylist knows what I want before letting them touch my hair. And to the stylist that did it, if you know you cannot deliver on the cut that your client shows you during the consultation - just say no, say that your skill set can’t produce what they are looking for and take the loss of revenue over having an upset client in your chair. Don’t lie and say you can do something when you clearly can’t. I went to go get my hair cut last week. Had extensive pictures saved from Pinterest, Google, instagram, wherever you can find inspo pictures. I knew exactly what I wanted. I had it written out and saved on my phone which I said verbatim to my stylist. Essentially 90s layered long bob style. The stylist assured me that she can do exactly that and I am excited. I have gotten layers ever since I was 10 and have had curtain bangs for over two years, I know what my hair is supposed to look like and that it’s possible. My previous stylist I was going to moved which is why I was looking for someone new. The first attempt at my cut was so bad one of my friends asked if I had tried to cut it at home by myself. Shocking that this was the result after a ‘professional cut’. I went back for an adjustment a couple days later and it ended up worse. But I didn’t want to get into an argument or cry at the salon so I just left without getting that I wanted a second time. I had to resort to cutting my hair myself to fix what this stylist had ruined. There was a clear disconnect between what I was asking and what the stylists ability was, and being shot down multiple times by this girl when I asked for adjustments to get it to look how I wanted was incredibly frustrating when I know it’s possible. I am now happy with my hair (after cutting it myself in the bathroom with little manicure scissors). But I am so unbelieving displeased with my experience at virtue salon. To go get a professional service twice just to end up fixing it myself would upset anyone. Anyone going here - make sure your stylist can do what you want, and all the stylists working there - don’t promise your clients something you can’t do from the beginning just don’t touch their hair if you can’t deliver on the final product. I was supposed to get my color done by this same girl but I will obviously not be coming back as I have lost all faith in her ability, I never want her to touch my hair again, thank you for trying but it was just bad. Considering the other reviews with good experiences I am very upset that this is how I was treated. Please view the images for screenshots of my full review, it’s too long to put in full.

I went in for a haircut and an eyebrow arch service. This was the second time coming for a haircut and my first time getting my eyebrows waxed here. The haircut was fine. I went in for a trim and shape up, and she cut it according to my directions. However, the eyebrow service resulted in a few burns. When she first finished and showed it to me, I had these bright red marks. I thought it was normal at first, and I told her it really burned, so she put some lotion on it. Before I left the salon, I asked if the redness was normal and when it would go away. She said to give it a few days, don't wear makeup for a day or so, and take ibuprofen if it still hurt the following day. This should have been a red flag, but I figured she knew what she was talking about. It was my first time getting my eyebrows waxed in years, so I thought I just didn't remember. By the time I got home and checked the mirror, I knew it was more. I looked up how to care for it, washed it and applied some antibacterial ointment, which helped. Aside from looking bad, it was really painful and stung. I called the salon and left a message because there was no answer, and let them know I'd gotten burned during the service. I will not be going back there again. It's nice having manicured brows, but it's not worth these burns and discomfort. What makes it worse is that I only get this type of thing done once or twice a year. Instead of looking and feeling great, this experience left me feeling self-conscious and uncomfortable. I understand that waxing comes with the risk of burns, but I wish my esthetician was had handled it differently. She chalked it up to people having different reactions to the wax treatment rather than what it was: skin lifting from waxing. Burns need to be treated appropriately, and she should have addressed it that way. I did receive a phone call after I initially posted this review. They refunded me for the eyebrow service and listened to my experience. The lotion (Finipil) they used is an FDA registered antiseptic cream to help the skin recover. They even offered to provide me with a bottle free of charge if I want. They also apologized for how it was handled and ensured that they would address it with my esthetician so that other customers do not have this experience. I changed my review from an initial 1 star to 3 stars because they handled the follow-up conversation so well, and I could tell they they were genuine and empathetic.

Love love LOVE this salon! I recently moved here to Columbus and have been to several places to find a new stylist. I knew that whomever I found would have big shoes to fill (as my old stylist in Charlotte was fantastic)... And after 4 attempts, I found Virtue! My guy is Louie... he's top notch at color and cut, and has a great personality to boot. He has thorough knowledge of hair and how to achieve the goals you set forth together at you initial consult and will listen to your wants and help you figure out the best way to get there.Louie and I took 3 sessions and got to the exact color and cut I showed him when we first met. The shop itself is beautiful, with huge windows in front, plants all over the place, and eclectic decor direct from the few antique stores close by. The staff there are super fun and friendly. They are interested in the processes being done with all clients (not just their own) and often have encouraging words for each other! As a client, that makes me even more confident with the styles I chose. My hair came out beautifully and Louie and Virtue now have a client for life!
