This little shop is a powerhouse of needlework supplies and experiences!! Every nook and cranny is filled with embroidery floss, fabrics, and charts of both the latest cross stitch designs as well as some “oldies but goodies”. The staff are super knowledgeable and very friendly. Don’t forget to check out the notions corner as well. And if you simply cannot wait to start your newest cross stitch piece, ask about having a seat at the Annex next door. This is where classes are held (check the calendar!!). Also, it’s the home of open stitching, where all are welcome to bring a project, a finish if you want to share, and stitch with friends. Speaking of finishing, if you are not quite comfortable doing your own finishing on your masterpiece, Acorns also offers a full line of finishing options from soft finishes such as pillows to framing! Really and truly this little shop is a one-stop Mecca of supplies and knowledge. Even if you live far away, you will keep wanting to come back time and again! For those of us who DO live far away, they offer over the phone shopping and shipping as well as an on line presence for a few items. Come once, leave with forever friends; come repeatedly to find what you missed earlier, the latest and greatest, and participate in their frequent buyer rewards program! This is a destination shop for those of us in the cross stitch community, and you will want to come...
Read moreI can't say enough about Acorns & Threads. I went in today for the first time in about 6 years and I REALLY missed this place. If you want to get a master class in customer service, just come in here and watch for an hour as the lovely ladies at Acorns & Threads teach you how to give phenomenal customer service.
This is a judgement free zone. I heard the same thing today as I heard 6 years ago: "There are no cross-stitch police" meaning, cross-stitch however the hell you want. Be happy! Jeannine is the owner and she is a wealth of knowledge as are her employees!
Seriously, if you have ever cross stitched, thought of cross stitching, or know someone who does cross stitch, do yourself a favor and visit this gem of a store. I can't say enough about how great it is.
If you need advice, they have it. If you need help, they'll give it. If you need a small project, they'll help you find one. If you frustrated, they'll listen. I've been to a number of cross stitch stores, and this is the best one I've ever been to. If you're buying floss at a big box store, stop! Come to...
Read moreI sometimes think that I may be the official shop mascot because I am here so often, but it really is worth being there often. The linens, threads, and patterns are updated weekly with new charts, colors, or re-stocks of popular items. There are always stitch groups and trunk shows from designers. There are always M&M's, makes the trip so perfect. I have been here a hundred times, and I think that I have seen everything, but it is so full of great stuff and new possibilities that I have only scratched the surface of what there is to see. There are lots of models on the wall and if you want to order a pattern, they can usually get it in in about a week. Before I lived in the area I always ordered online, now I only purchase from the shop and everyone I have met here...
