For years, I struggled to stay consistent in the gym after leaving high school sports. My weight and workout habits constantly yo-yoed. But everything changed when I walked through the doors of BC Fitness last October.
From day one, I was surrounded by people who wanted to see me succeed - people who supported me, pushed me, and believed in me. I found a sense of belonging and community unlike anything I’ve ever experienced. And for the first time in a long time, I found myself coming back week after week.
I grew close with the coaches, especially Coach Lauren. I started showing up so consistently that if I was a few minutes late, I’d get a “where are you?” text - exactly the accountability I needed. Lauren has become one of my closest friends and my sounding board for everything (beyond thankful for our weekly venting runs). She pushes me to be my best every day, and I admire her more than she knows.
The people at BC Fitness have been there for me far beyond the gym. They’ve seen me grow through so much this past year - navigating a breakup, surviving my first year of teaching, and finding balance again. They unknowingly gave me routine, stability, and love when I needed it most.
Coach James has completely changed my mindset and my life. He’s never doubted me, even when I doubted myself. He challenges me to go further than I thought possible and always welcomes my endless “is there an accommodation for this?” questions with patience and encouragement. He has given me a guidance (in and out of the gym) that I have been searching for. I truly don’t think I could ever thank him enough.
In one year, I’ve lost 30 pounds, gotten so much stronger, and gained even more confidence. I’m signing up for races I never imagined doing and pushing limits I once thought were impossible.

Read moreI cannot say enough good things about BC Fitness and my coach, James. When I first start this year, I was struggling with Hashimoto’s and rheumatoid arthritis. My health had taken such a toll that I went from training for a marathon to not being able to walk quarter of a mile, lift five pounds, or even squat. It was devastating physically and emotionally.
James has been nothing short of amazing in guiding me back to strength and confidence. With his patience, expertise, and encouragement, I’ve gone from that very low point to now being able to run 3–4 miles, lift 20 pounds, and even do weighted walking lunges—things I thought I might never be able to do again. He doesn’t just train me physically; he supports me through the mental and emotional challenges that come with chronic illness and recovery. Best yet, he listens to me complain and always has a witty comment back. :-)
What makes BC Fitness truly stand out is the atmosphere. All of the trainers are inspiring, knowledgeable, and supportive. It’s a place where you feel motivated and safe to push yourself while also respecting your limitations.

Read moreI’ve worked out at a lot of different gyms over the years, but BC Fitness and especially Coach Carlos truly feels like home. He’s not your typical coach. Carlos goes above and beyond to meet you exactly where you are in your fitness journey. Whether you’re just starting out or training for something big, like I am, he’s right there with you.
I’m currently training for my first half marathon and Hyrox competition at the end of the year, and having Carlos as my coach has made all the difference. He’s incredibly down to earth, genuinely listens, and tailors your training to fit your goals and challenges.
The results speak for themselves jI’m down 20 pounds in just four months. But honestly, the mental transformation has been even more powerful. I feel stronger, more confident, and more resilient because I keep pushing through and hitting goals I once thought were out of reach.
I love it so much, I actually drive 35–40 minutes just to train with him and be part of the BC Fitness community. It’s 100% worth it.
