Plus Vacation Homes — Attraction in Oak Ridge

I booked this house for a 10 night stay from 29th March with my family (11 of us in total). There were 3 main reasons for booking it.

1. Location
2. Size
3. They VERY prominately advertised FREE POOL HEAT First the good points
4. Location is ideal
5. It is a large house
6. The owner Omar is very prompt to answer questions and is very polite. This was handy as emailed him vcirtually every day.He answered most questions but tended not to comment on acouple of important ones. Now the bad points
7. As I said this is a large home, however the pool area has one small table table and 4 chairs, one of which is broken. It also has only 2 loungers. This for a house that says it can house 14 people. I emailed Omar about this and told him this was completely UNACCEPTABLE. Ufortuneately this was one point he chose not to comment on.
8. The house advertised FREE POOL HEAT. We had NO POOL HEAT FOR THE COMPLETE STAY. I pointed this out to Omar virtually every day. Two people from the management company came once but we were given no information what the problem was from anyone. We were then told at the end of the stay that the heating system was brken and needed replacing.
9. We arrived at the house around 7pm with 3 children and no luggage as the airline had lost it and we were very stressed only to find that the door code for the house did not work and we could not get in. We tried a number of times to contact MILA on the number given to us again with no success. Eventually we went to the clubhouse to see if anyone could help. The lovely lady who owns the Tikki bar and is also a homeowner on the estate came to the house with us to try and get in without success. We went back to the clubhouse and tried their landline phone and this time got an answer and was given a new door code. Mila however came acrsoss as angry whe she found we had involved another homeowner to try and help. So after a 3-4 hour delay we eventually got into the house.
10. There is a massive tree that hangs over the pool area which means that only half of the pool area gets sun from around 11 to 4. This tree also drops a lot of debris on top of the pool netting which means that fine particles of dirt falls ino the pool.
11. Thge decor of the house is not too bad however there are a lot of filled holes in the plaster that have been filled very roughly.
12. The ceiling above the hob is filthy and looks like it has not been painted in years.
13. the L shaped sofa in the kitchen/sitting area has lots of tears on the vinyl surface.
14. The large downstairs besdroom has no bedside lights which makes it vey dangerous if you get up during the night. we brought a light from another bedroom but soon found out why ther were no lights. There is no sockets to plug them in.
15. The games room has a dilapidated pool table with one usewable cue. A dilapidated air hockey table with holes in the surface. we did not even try to plug in thebasketball game.
16. There is no doorbell which means if you are at the back of the house or on the pool you will not hewar anyone at the door. We almost missed the van delivering our lost suitcases but actually saw them drive up the nearby road.

We did receive a refund o $150 for the no pool heat which in my opnion is not enough as it was very clearly advertised and one of the reasons we booked. In my opinion this house is very tired and not being cared for with the customer in mind. I have...

Ill give Plus vacations 3 stars only because the home was nice and spacious and the community was quiet and clean. When i got to the house i typically like to do a full walk through to ensure i will not be charged for a single thing while staying in any Airbnbs. under the recliner chairs there was trash. The pool table leg was broken. Rooms were missing remotes. The carpets were dirty!! several small items in house were missing which wasn’t a concern for me i just needed them aware so we weren’t charged a dime. the kids bed collapsed as soon as you touched it so unfortunately we were instantly down a bed. The day before the last day in the home the pool reeked of rotten eggs i called because we take this trip every year and the last few homes we stayed in had pool cleanings every morning but i was notified this home with plus vacation only does cleanings once a week however she asked if we needed an extra cleaning and said she would call them to have them come out that day or early the next day that wasn’t completed and we weren’t updated after she said she would call back with an update.. the communication is terrible i had to double or triple email and call numerous times which is fine i do understand at times they could be busy but i mean its actually unacceptable. The propane tank that was there on the gas grill was checked out upon inspection we realized the gas was left on the ENTIRE time we were there when we noticed it was already day 2 thats a major safety concern and should never happen to any other families in the future… could literally blow everything up especially if people are out smoking. When i bought this up she kindly mentioned that the propane grill is rented throughout a 3rd party and has to charge if we use it… i guess she didn’t hear me because she completely disregarded what i was telling her and tried to bring up a payment. The screen around the pool area had many many openings so anything can crawl in one of our babies fell and actually fell right through to the grass i mean literally a joke. Overall the house was nice despite the downfalls. I contacted plus vacation homes numerous times and after awhile they did act on many of my complaints they sent a maintenance man to fix many of the issues and even heated the pool for us for the inconvenience. It would've been nice if it didnt smell like eggs so we could fully enjoy it. Also they asked if they could send carpet cleaners while we were there…. which means we would have had to stay off the carpets and we are on vacation to enjoy the house not standby while its being worked on. So i dont know why they even asked that i kindly asked if they could wait until we left to do that.I did enjoy my stay because i was with family and we made do with the house but i dont think i will book with plus...

A rather mixed, long review…

The night before we arrived, I had a message to say the house had a plumbing issue and wasn’t ready to hosts guests. They offered an upgraded alternative which was NOT an upgrade in the slightest. I replied quickly and then heard NOTHING for hours. That was one of the most stressful few hours trying to find a villa for 9 people with less than 24 hrs notice. It was sorted eventually but was just the start of the problems we had here.

Good points: Location. Near to parks. Really nice estate. QR code to get onto the estate so to felt nice and secure. 7/11 walking distance. Church walking distance. Reasonably priced. Pool heat was just right. Large house Washing machine and Tumble dryer were great. We used these loads. Initially we were told it may not be possible, but they provided two travel cots for us (we have 8month old twins), so we really appreciated this.

Bad points: Cleanliness. Still had crisps on the carpet and coffee/filter in the machine. They sent a cleaner the day after I told them about this. Lots of broken items: Air con stopped working one night and it was HOT. Fixed the day after. The glass panel of the oven fell forward twice. Fixed the day after. The sink drainage pipes had a massive leak (like 15 bath towels clean up). Someone SORTA fixed the day after, but left a bowl under the pipe and this had to be emptied every 3 days, so it wasn’t really fixed. Back door lock was broken. Fixed day after. TV in living room was blue - like the screen was damaged - and never connected to any channels. Never fixed. There were lots of dead worm / caterpillar things in the house. Not sure what these were, but we mentioned it to the team and were just told to keep doors closed. The doors being closed didn’t improve the number of them turning up. Coffee machine eventually broke and we bought a new one and left. Then one of the beds broke / dropped in a corner. This resulted in my husband dropping my baby. This happened on the 13th day and was not repaired.

Fridge was always leaking. Furniture needed a wet vacuum Front door locked but it was very loose so you could have easily opened it with a bit of a push. There were far too many cooking spoons but not a single oven glove or tea towel to use the oven safely. No fire blanket etc. I must have contacted the property team at least twice a week and I don’t think that is good enough when on holiday. I just want to shut off.

So to summarise, there were multiple issues, many of which were sorted when reported, some which weren’t. I don’t think this home was up to standard for rental just yet, but with a thorough deep clean and maintenance session, it has great potential. But for now, I wouldn’t recommend...
