So I'm not sure where these bogus reviews are coming from, but I believe it's unfair and doesn't tell the whole story. While I do believe there where some cleaning issues with some of the rooms listed in some of these reviews, specifically the ones with pictures A LOT of these reviews are just piling on to a hotel that can't really defend itself. I can only speak to my experience and I would like to debunk these one by one and give a fair and accurate review of what a hotel this size and age should be compared to other hotels in the same range. For example, it's not fair to compare the Garnet Inn to a Marriott because a Marriott brings in more money, is better funded, and has ample resources for renovations. Some people are thinking along the lines of a 1200 room hotel with unlimited funds to a small hotel without nearly the same resources. Again, some of the reviews are fair, but it's important to compare this hotel with another hotel near its actual rank and funding. Let's take the Baymont by Wyndham in downtown Orlando. That's a fairer competing hotel. Als, I think the Bphostel is making the hotel side look bad as I think they do business with each other, but I might be wrong on that. First, if you report an excessive noise complaint at Garnet In, they will first go to that room and try to quiet them down. I've never had to do this as the rooms are near soundprooff and spaced out away from each other where that isn't an issue. If that doesn't work and there is availability you will get switched to a different room with the same amenities you had (example 2 double bed room to a two double bed or a king room to a king room.) If they don't have your room type available more often than not you'll be bumped up to a better room just to make you happy. With Baymont by Wyndham they will lie to you say they're completely booked up, they'll make a half-hearted effort to quiet the noise and still won't switch your room even if you have an important meeting to get to in the morning. For sound and accommodation, it's a 10. For roaches and bugs in the room or hallway, it was completely unfounded. You might see a little lizard friend in the bushes or on the walkway outside leading to the pool but they're harmless and way more afraid of you than you are of them so you won't be bothered on that front.
Next let's go to the breakfast. There's OK tasting juice, waffle, 3 different cereals, coffee and sugar. Not a whole lot I admit but your only spending 50-60 dollars a night for a room. If you book a Hyatt Regency in Seattle, you're paying about 120 a night with a 75 dollar deposit each night you stay with no breakfast in a super sketchy part of town. If you're not a fan of that breakfast, this location is within walking distance of many restaurants and other places to eat. A quick Google search will bring up pizza donuts burgers a steak place, and even a Wafflehouse just to name a few, and I felt comfortable walking the streets at night to explore. They could use a little more variety in breakfast, but I think that's more of a funding issue than laziness. (Again, this has to be graded on hotel size), so 9 out of 10 on the breakfast and places to get it.
3rd cleanliness. I had no issues whatsoever as far as cleanliness goes. My room was not carpet like other reviews were saying it was a tile floor, and it was spotless. No cigarette burns in my blankets no smell of drugs in the hallway no mold (and I'm an asthmatic so if there was mold it would have tanked this review entirely) my room was pristine good size TV with a lot of cable channels temperature in the room was 65 and can be lowered or set to higher depending on preference. The to outside doesn't open, which isn't great, but if that's the worst thing to complain about a room , you're in great shape. The bath is a great size water pressure, fantastic soap and shampoo, comfy bed, and clean sheets. No mildew smell in the hall, and the pool area has a handicapable lift for swimming. For the price, this is as close to a 10 out of 10 hotel you're going to...
Read moreDo not stay here! I was scammed. Go to the Developer inn maingate by Baymont Wyndham. It’s the same price with better breakfast, closer to Disney. I’ve stayed here twice, the first time it wasn’t that bad, the tv was broken and wouldn’t work.. however, this hotel is VERY inconsistent and ruined half of our vacation. Upon arrival to our second visit, we checked in and moved all of our stuff to our room for the week, outside there was a party of people hanging out with coolers drinking and smoking. Parts of the hotel had puddles of water from the rain in random places so you had to be careful. We got a king suite, it smelled like rotting wood and the mattress was broken, folded in and slanted back with our heads lower than our feet and we were rolling into each other. We went to lay down in the pull-out sofa bed and there was blood all over it. We had a long 7hour drive and arrived at 8pm so we really just toughed it out on the bed the first night with our feet facing the headboard. In one of the bathrooms, the shower head was cracked on the side so water went everywhere all over the bathroom like I had to turn it off immediately because it soaked me and everything in the bathroom. Went into the other bathroom to shower and realized there no hot water. So I took a cold shower. Both toilets wouldn’t flush without manually taking the back off and wiggling and pulling the levers. Then I noticed the AC was broken, wouldn’t turn on and it was plugged in. The next morning we got our room changed. We mentioned the water was cold and then they finally informed us that the plumber was coming out that day and would be fixed… NOT. The new room we got was better but still disgusting. Our feet turned black in the room, the floor in the bathroom was greasy, I had to wear my sandals the whole time in the room. The ac worked, not great but it worked. The bed was okay. One of the showers still didn’t work, when you turned it on no water would come out. The other shower was fine except the fact that there was no hot water and the door wouldn’t shut because it was coming off of the hinges. We had planned to go to Disney that morning but then had to pack and move our stuff to another room and had horrible sleep. The whole morning was ruined and time was wasted. And don’t get me started on the breakfast, there was only waffles that tasted like cardboard, bread and these gross little prepackaged strawberry pastry crackers. They also wouldn’t let you bring the waffle and bread to your room and they play awful music that only plays the same 3 notes over and over again. Almost like an ice cream truck song or a horrible wind up music box that will drive you MAD. We finally got out to the park around 12pm with a 20 min drive. Coming back after a long day, showering in cold water having to put my sandals on, I said screw this and bought a different room for the next day the rest of the week. With that being said, we had to pack up again and move to a different hotel. (The one listed above that was OUTSTANDING with hot breakfast. Eggs, toast, waffles, cereal, sausage, oatmeal, pastry danishes, juice, bananas) but packing and moving put a buffer to my plans because I couldn’t check into my other room until 3pm so more than half of the day was missing when I could have been at the park which isn’t cheap either. They also told me they couldn’t refund my money for the remaining 3 days because when checking in they said they notified us about the hot water problem and that if we didn’t want to stay they would have given us a refund at check in. Which PAUL the Indian guy checking us in DID NOT mention there was no hot water. He also almost forgot to give us our parking pass until reminded thank god I knew or my car could have been towed away. If I had known there was no hot water, I would have not stayed. Anyways forget this place, don't go here. Nothing in that room is worth that $100 deposit. Hate that I had to waste more time writing the review but hopefully it’ll...
Read more----- PLEASE READ!!!! HONEST REVIEW!!! NO LIES, NO BS!!!!!! This hotel gave us this only information over the phone before checking in that the only thing we should be worrying about is the water heater not working. We took their word and we abided. The moment that my girlfriend and I walked to the front desk and checked in, we saw the front lobby being FLOODED with water by the rain ankle level. I was shocked that a business would leave a first impression like that to the guests on the 4th of July. My girlfriend and I had to walk through a swamp full of litter, cigarettes, and debris on the 1st floor to get to our room. That wasn't the only issue now... The first room that the front desk gave us was on the 1st floor and it was GUT WRENCHING. What hit us instantly was the smell of something like an organism decomposing for weeks with the entire room! Table appliances were falling apart and there is a high case of MOLD in the facilities, especially in Building D. You CANNOT escape the smell that would make you sick to your stomach, your eyes watery, and nose running. After checking out the room for a couple minutes, I happened to stumble across a TERMITE INSECT near the curtains and the glass sliding door. My jaw dropped and I instantly killed it and flushed it down the toilet. I wish we took a photo of that moment!!!!! We also stumbled across DIRT flying everywhere in the bathroom due to accumulation of dirt in the air vents. (Picture provided). The tile floors in the bathroom were noticeably WET and slippery. After seeing the room, we immediately went back to the front desk and asked for a different room. The front desk receptionist (Indian worker with a blue shirt) was so rude with his tone when we explained about our visit with the first room. He then gave us our 2nd room and promised that the "2nd floor would smell a lot better than the 1st floor". Entering the 2nd room also in Building D, the smell was just as worse as the first room, but we did not see bugs this time. I used the bathroom for the first time with our 2nd room, flushed it, and the toilet wasn't flushing properly. The toilet would have OVERFLOWED. I reached the front desk with the Indian individual via phone call to express the issue with the plumbing and he abruptly HUNG UP on me twice when he saw my caller ID. He picked up the phone and then smashed the phone down instantly.... TWICE!!!! I had to change my caller ID in order to reach the gentleman again. He happened to pick up that time and I expressed my problem, and when I asked why he hung up on me twice, he gave me an invalid excuse that the phone system blocks certain callers... TOTAL BS! When we checked out, we went to the manager of the hotel, communicated to her about the issues with the building and her response is, "Well, you got your opinions and others have a different one...".... DOES ANYONE ACTUALLY THINK THIS IS GOOD CUSTOMER SERVICE???? We booked our stay for 5 nights, cancelled on the 1st day, agreed to pay the 1st night, and we still haven't gotten our refund for the 4 nights that the manager lady insists of.
------- Inconclusion, the living environment in this facility is totally UNACCEPTABLE and it's SICKENING for any travelers/business(wo)man sleeping in those rooms. Not only was the living condition terrible, the customer service was and is still very, very unprofessional and so rude. STAY AWAY from this place because they will SCAM and LIE to you like they did to us on the phone initially (explained on...
