I ordered for the first time--the Moroccan Chicken for delivery. I expected leftovers and I would not have been disappointed, except that I ate the entire half chicken and all of the rice (mixed with what I believe was a bit of "bad sauce"?) because it was excellent.
In the past 9 months of the pandemic, I have generally been disappointed by delivery or takeout that, in the ten minutes it takes to get to my house, arrives dry and unpleasant. Although I was suspicious that local chefs simply did not know how to cook meat/poultry--a phenomenon I encounter often in the middle market in Corvallis and in Oregon, generally--I did not want to hold this against the restaurants from which I had ordered because the conditions of the pandemic have made the logistics of food difficult.
But this chicken has confirmed those suspicions. Those other, lesser, cooks had me blaming styrofoam for my dry, chewy chicken! This was deliciously moist, and despite the transit, the skin even retained a bit of crispiness. While I will continue to hate styrofoam for the environmental damage that it does (a necessity of our times), I will no longer lay undeserved blame upon it for ruining my meat.
I appreciate that they do their own delivery (or so it seems?) through their website and will order again. I will just get more things next time so that I will have Monday lunch leftovers after shamelessly devouring half a chicken for...
Read moreHalf of my ancestors came from the Middle East so I grew up with a good bit of this type of food. Perhaps it would be better if the owner was actually there to prepare the food herself. I had an unacceptable meal there, took the time to take the issue to the owner myself rather than leaving a bad review. She promised I'm more than one occasion to replace that food and to prepare the meal herself. I came in a couple more times. The quality did not improve nor was the meal replaced. Another reviewer complained about the smell of the spice. If I could reach him directly I would do so so I'll just say now that something that pungent is not normal for this type of food. There is a middle eastern restaurant and grocery in South Town. Not perfect either but certainly better. It would seem we've lost the two Middle Eastern food trucks, and the place by campus was likewise unimpressive. I gave this location a three on a sliding scale. If there were other options available I probably would have rated it lower. If you really want Persian, Armenian, Lebanese, or even Greek, hold out for some further north. When it's good, the trip to Portland is just about worth it! Jamila, it would seem that you need to be there to ensure that the food is made correctly, preparing individually well and served properly. Promises of replacing it and refunding it that don't happen add...
Read moreI’ve been seeing little Morocco cafe for 2 years now and I’ve always wanted to try this place and it didn’t disappoint! NOTE this is a light 4 just because the food was not breathtaking. However it was still delicious. I got the chicken shawarma plate and my partner got the Morocco chicken plate. They were both really well seasoned but a little lacking on the amount of things on the plate ESPECIALLY the chicken shawarma plate. It was lacking on the chicken. However both were good! The service was excellent the gentleman working behind the counter was nice as always and our food was done in no time at all! Aswell the price was alright not bad for the plates but I would recommend a smaller main dish !Overall to really enjoy this restaurant I will be going back and trying more items off the menu! I would HIGHLY recommend stopping by this place if you are in Corvallis and looking for something that’s not your average...
