While this store is a good 20+ minutes down I-80 from where I live, it's usually worthwhile. This store has the absolute BEST and BIGGEST selection of music and movies of any Disc Replay I've come acrross. I cannot help but spend at least an hour or more here every time because there's so much to peruse. While most DVDs are put under one section, they do have a stand alone horror DVD section which is very impressive. They even take in some Canadian discs which offers up DVDs with alternate cuts or content. The prices are usually VERY good starting as low as $4.99, aside from clearance titles. You can find obscure or some rare releases with DVDs that you won't find in any other store. Unlike some other Disc Replays, they don't seem to have any restrictions on what they will take in from customers. I regularly find so much here that I've never seen at any other Disc Replay. And if you're still into VHS tapes, they sell a few dozen of those, too.
They also sell a vast array of collectibles, posters, books, and vintage toys. On the music side, they have a huge selection of CDs and vinyl records along with some cassette and 8-track tapes. There are plenty of box sets to go around as well. I don't own a game system, but I can tell you that they seem to have a TON of video games, consoles, and accessories! Basically, there's little that they don't re-sell in the realm of pop culture, aside from attire. Although, I have yet to notice any laserdiscs in store, but I wouldn't doubt that they would buy and sell those, too. They even sell stereo decks as well as CD, DVD, & record players. I believe they have sold Blu Ray players, too, but those are likely rarities.
I have not sold anything at this store, and so, I cannot comment on that side of their business. Yet, their service always seems very upbeat, positive, and pleasant. The store is always busy, and this staff seems very capable of handling the traffic. This is my favorite...
Read moreSelling rare items here has gone way down hill in recent years with all the new hires. I'd prefer only to sell with three buyers here Scott, the man who has been there with him for probably 20 years or more and the young lady with the black short hair. The chubby man who seems to be in charge when the other two are gone has no clue how to authenticate rare titles and has consistently lowballed me on items for a few years now. I was in there today with a copy of mega man for game gear and a jurassic park prehistoric edition from limited run games which sells for the lowest price of 279.99 on ebay and isn't available anywhere else. I was told they couldn't authenticate mega man and offered me 75 for the jurassic park and told me it was about half the value of what its worth, not to mention mine was still in the sealed bag and the cheapest online versions didnt even provide pictures so 279.99 may have been lower than the value of mine. I kept my items and went to naperville where they opened mega man and confirmed it was authentic and they offered me an aditional 50 for the jurassic park. The young girl who took my items was in the back saying "she knew it!" talking about the game because she swears it was fake. I always did great business with Scott but i wont be selling my items with this location anymore unless its normal items. All rare and expensive items will be sold with naperville or downers grove from now on. I've been selling with this location for 25 years and it did not feel good to walk out insulted with the lowball offer and telling me they couldn't authenticate my title like I was trying to get one over on them. Buy a screwdriver and open the titles for proof. If I had known the lack of knowledge and ability of this staff then I would've have...
Read moreSo I drove about an hour to this place because they posted on Facebook some records I wanted. When I get there I see more stuff then a little bit. Piled from the floor to the ceiling. Any kind of media you can think of they got it. Now prior to me going I asked on Facebook about prices and was told they are comparable with Discogs. They are not. I grabbed a Bob Marley record that clearly was far from mint however the price on the record was the mint price on Discogs. When I asked one of the employees I was told about shipping and the guy that prices the record goes home on the weekend and study’s prices. I’m not sure but I don’t think homeboy had a clue what he was talking about. He was pleasant just had no idea what I was asking. STRIKE ONE! STRIKE TWO and let me tell you this is huge. As a record collector when some puts something on an album cover it ruins said record cover. That being said they put the price sticker directly on the album cover?!?!? What in the actual FUNK!!!! Any way thankfully there is no strike three. I did manage to pick up some fairly priced (better then eBay) reissues and I think I got a come up. They had an original pressing of SD priced way low so I’m counting that as a win or someone messed up! Anyways some of the staff looked lost. They were all nice and it was busy so maybe overwhelmed. All in all stay away from the records on the wall behind the cashier, way over priced. Other then that if you like digging it’s a...
