If I could give this place 1 star I would. This owner of this shop is a scammer. I brought my car here in April of 2018 because of water slouching sounds. He diagnosed my car with needing a new water pump. 7 months later I heard the same sound and he said it was a radiator cap that I needed. I paid for that . 7 months later, I hear THE SAME SOUND! I take it in this morning and the guy didnât test my car at first. He looked near the radiator, saw leakage, then he pulled out a tool that tested the pressure. He said I had a leak in my radiator. Hereâs the thing that bothers me. 7 months ago, wouldnât you know my radiator was bad or going out when you replaced the cap? I am a black female and I hate to stereotype but I feel as if I was taken advantage of because of that. I called my uncle to ask his advice while I was at the shop and mentioned the numerous times Iâve taken my car here. I explained that I feel like i keep bringing it here and theyâre fixing every other problem but the problem itself . The owner then proceeds to walk toward me and tell me he wonât fix it because he âthought I called him a thiefâ. I never once said that. I said what was previously stated above. He took it wrong. I then asked him could he explain what he was explaining to me to my uncle. He walks away with my phone and I asked could he stay here. He then places my phone on the hood of the car and said my uncle could call the shop. Things started to turn left.. I was frustrated and said I felt like I got scammed. He then starts to call me out of my name and asked me to get off his property as he proceeds to call the police. Btw I waited until the police came outside of his property on the street. The police came and stated it wasnât a criminal matter but a civil matter . I forgot to mention he did apologize to me before the police came and stated he hated he called me out of my name or even called the police. He also did something under the hood of my car because it would not even crank lol I kid you not. This place is shady. I wouldnât recommend coming to this place if you want your issue fixed. Itâll be a temporary fix and the issue will come back. Also if youâre a woman, have a man go with you. Maybe they wonât try...
Read moreAfter getting a quote from the dealership for a repair and feeling it was too high, I went to Alternative Motors for my Subaru Outback. I wanted to get some items for my suspension replaced and they were friendly and gave me a good price.
They updated my work mid repair asking to essentially replace my entire suspension (struts and coils) because there was a creaky noise. This was an additional $2000 on top of my original $1600 quote.
I declined the repair and drove it for a bit, there was indeed a very grating sound that wasnât there before. After communicating with them and getting nowhere, I took it back to the dealership. The dealership took a brief look at it and said most of the nuts and bolts of the parts alternative motors replaced were loose. The loose install was dangerous and required me to replace my ball joint because the grating from the loose connection wore it down.
I called them and asked about a warranty. The first response was, âyes we have a warranty, I wish you would have taken it here first.â So the company that tried to charge me $2k extra for their poor work has now complained I didnât trust their judgement. I had the dealer fix it because I value my health, and decided this was no longer worth the hassle. The bolts just had to be tightened and the ball joint replaced (because of the loose install) and everything was perfectly fine after.
I hope the technician was just having a rough day because they were repairing it on Saturday, and after reading reviews Iâm surprised at this experience. But if you are driving a Subaru I would not recommend this shop. I got the notification via text of the extra $2k of repair without any extra communication via text. HOWEVER, the shop cat is very cute so 1 star for that.
Summary: took car here for a repair. They send me a notification of $2k more work. Take it to the dealership and the mechanics find everything was...
Read moreWe had a â02 Chevy Tahoe towed here twice for service. Both times, we couldnât get the truck to start. We described everything in GREAT detail to the lady on the phone AND the lighter skinned bald guy. First impressions are everything and they blew it with me. The lighter skinned bald guy, possibly Middle Eastern, that may be the head mechanic is rude and very short. The lady in the office taking calls was nice at first, but when we kept saying that the problem wasnât fixed she was rude. You should never argue with a customer, especially a paying one. It was absolutely ridiculous. Imagine taking your car to someone thatâs supposed to know how to fix your issue and they donât. We requested that the fuel filter be changed, after getting a second look, the second time around since their diagnosis was a dead battery the first time around. They refused to do this and stated that theyâd see if the fuel filter was the problem. Keep in mind, all they did was charge the battery the first time it was towed to their business. The second time, they replaced the battery. No fuel filter replaced or anything checked out along the fuel line. This all started around Thanksgiving and here it is February and the same symptoms still exist. We drove over to the shop today for a warranty replacement of the battery and the mechanic, the same bald one from the visit, said that our truck is the issue. Well, why wasnât the issue addressed?! Currently, theyâre in the middle of charging a battery thatâll be dead in no time. They told us they donât know how long it would take and to come back later. Again, whatâs the point of taking it to a âMECHANICâ if they canât solve the issue? Never dealing with this...
