I used to enjoy going to this theater, but over the last year or so, they started making changes that make the movie going experience stressful. The first thing they did was slowly replace cashiers with automated kiosks, a practice I disagree with already because it takes the place of an employed human. Now the kiosks are the only option, there are no cashiers at all. So when I was trying to buy my tickets the touch screen was not aligned making pushing buttons a guessing game. This is where the second complaint comes in. The kiosk requires you to pick seats, but since the alignment was off I could not get three seats in a row for my two kids and myself, I inadvertently kept picking random seats, some that were already filled which would then take me to a screen saying that seat was unavailable. It took a lot of tries, and a long line building up behind me added to my stress, but I did finally get 3 seats together, but not the ones I was trying to get... the seats I wanted were available, but because of the faulty touch screen, I could not click on them. The one attendant who was there was busy with other people trying to use their kiosks. When I finally caught his ear he must have thought I was complaining about the fact that we had to pick seats (which is a complaint for another day, but not the problem I needed his help with) because all he said was, "Yes, AMC has been doing this for four months now." As if I should have known better. Because this took so long, by the time I got into the theater the previews had already started and it was dark. My forced-assigned seats were unreachable as three people were already in the row with mounds of food on their laps, and I just couldn't fathom getting by. We sat in aisle seats behind our row and decided if someone did show up, then we would move. But no one ever did. So what was the point? By the time I sat down I was so annoyed with my experience I had wish I hadn't gone. This is not the first time I've had issues at this theater, but it is the last straw. I will be looking for a different theater to go to...
Read moreBig bathrooms that are clean at least several times a day. Sixteen auditoriums, so no shortage of big blockbusters. UFO catcher with the rubber ducks is the highlight, since you can keep playing until you catch a duck!
UPDATE ALMOST A DECADE LATER: I forgot that I gave this place such a positive review a quarter of my life ago. The duck catcher is no longer here—I think it’s been moved to a diner or the Danbury Fair Mall, I noted with relief that it’s still in Danbury somewhere but I can’t remember where exactly, sorry. No, I’ve been incensed to write a review in 2025 because they almost never have any hot food here. It’s all popcorn, whatever candy you can see while standing in line, and if you’re lucky something frozen. Occasionally the TV screen that acts as a menu reflects that their supply of pizza, hot dogs, etc, has been depleted for the time being. Occasionally. I never come here at 10am so it has been years since I have seen any of this food. I’m assuming that they do have food in the morning because they always act shocked that they’ve run out.
Beyond needing to make sure that I’ve already eaten (which honestly probably saves me almost $100 because the food would of course be fantastically overpriced to that the ritual of cinema doesn’t collapse under the weight of corporate greed), I really like this cinema, but I’m triangulating based on other reviews that this is because I’m old and under the thrall of nostalgia. If you’re born in the 1990s or later, or moved here from somewhere more modern, this cinema must seem pretty archaic. I guess it hasn’t been renovated in a while and it shows. I hope it has many years ahead of it without an obnoxious renovation, but at least for me, that’s going to mean paying attention to how long before noon they have plunged into their...
Read moreThis was my first visit to this theatre on 9/10/25 for the conjuring at 10:10pm and I was really looking forward to coming here because this was a serious upgrade from home. I was greatly disappointed. Upon arrival the first thing I was greeted with was the parking lot was pitch dark. No lights so you can’t see pedestrians. I walk inside and then I’m greeted with ticket kiosks and figuring out how to retrieve my online ticket from the kiosk. The staff wasn’t the friendliest. The ticket taker didn’t direct me to my theatre so it a good thing I know how to read the ticket. Then I tried to order a pepperoni pizza and was told I couldn’t as it was available on the menu board. The popcorn was horrible as I could hardly eat it and I had to get a new cup as when I picked it from filling it the cup was leaking! So after walking the halls and trying to locate screen 8 which has different entrance then all the other ones I walk in and find the auditorium dirty. They didn’t clean the theatre. There was trash and popcorn on the floor and trash in the seats. Then I find my assigned seat after counting the seats as they are not marked or maybe I just don’t know where to look. My seat was very worn and needed replacing. I was not impressed by this theatre at all. It had so much potential because it is a lovely building and the movie was great! I did enjoy then Dolby cinema! That was a great experience so...
