As someone who enjoys Vietnamese cuisine as much as the next person, I hesitated a bit to give the new Pho Vietnam location a shot only because I stopped frequenting the original restaurant for a number of reasons. I figured the Eagle Road location was open long enough for them to work out the kinks and for me to finally experience it on my own.
Pros: The location is perfect for other nearby companies to break for lunch/dinner, that area is filled with people constantly.
The bar area looked gorgeous in comparison to what it used to look like from the previous restaurant (Ki Asia for anyone who remembers). It's well stocked, decorated perfectly, and aims to be a nice centerpiece to the establishment.
The pho broth (or small amount I got with the Banh Mi French dip) was solid, very similar to what they serve at the original location. Broth was clean, beefy flavor, spiced well.
Service was good, friendly, water glass was always topped off, and food came out at a reasonable timetable.
Cons: $15 for the Banh Mi French dip was absurd for the amount of food I got. The banh mi itself was a six inch grinder that even though tasted fine, was a lot less than I was expecting. It was complimented with pho broth for dipping, which was a nice touch, but the potato wedges were totally random, and also undercooked. I get what they were going for, the execution just didn't make sense to me.
Not entirely their fault since the building is narrow by default, but the seating up front seemed a little awkward. Long tables were placed next to the windows and positioned length wise towards the middle of the restaurant where there would be heavy foot-traffic (employees, customers, etc). Honestly didn't even see the hostess podium on the right when walking in either.
Felt like it was little too modernized for my taste, could be just a me issue though. If you've been to a Mecha Noodle (owned by the same family) it basically feels like that with a Vietnamese influence instead. Again, maybe it's me, just didn't feel authentic.
All in all, a pretty mixed experience. I feel like this location caters to a specific demographic and that's more than likely not me, which is totally okay. I didn't have an opportunity to try any of the cocktails, but they did seem enjoyable, so maybe that'll be the reason I come back here. However, it's not my first choice for Vietnamese food...
Read moreWe’ve come here countless amount of times (both dine-in and take out) and food is good when consistent and accurate, however there has been SO MANY mistakes (almost 1 in 5). Past mistakes mainly consisted of missing ingredients in the dish and when ingredients were out of stock, there was no me tion of it, no substitution offered nor additional quantity of other ingredients added.
Today an accommodation was requested for the dish pho deluxe (for raw meat to be sauteed because in the past when it was asked to be cooked, they boiled it and meat was tough/dry) and the waitress said it was doable and she would notate it. When the dish came out, the raw meat was boiled. The manager asked us how the food was and when the concern brought up, she mentioned twice that the dish came that way and it would require additional steps for it to be sauteed, and she will double-check next time. There was no apology or an offer to correct this (I had no intention to send it back as it would be food waste). Then the waitress later asked the same question and we again shared this concern, she voiced the waitress voiced the same response as the manager; manager was nearby listening. Again no apology was offered, just the manager responding that she understood what we were conveying. Their response demonstrates poor customer service as the concern was not listened to or addressed, simply noting that a dish comes a certain way and failing to see that an accepted request was not carried through. When the check arrived, no discount was offered either.
We think it is reasonable to give constructive feedback, especially if we are being asked how the food was. If an accommodation is accepted, a result should simply be delivered; if an accommodation request is declined, that is the restaurant’s fair choice. We didn’t seek them out to share our concerns nor had intentions to send the food back. We politely just want this concern to be genuinely acknowledged. We’ve been coming here since ~2016 because we like to support local businesses and there is a lack of asian places in the area but we’re no longer going to support this restaurant. This business overall needs to work on customer service (especially as a manager) and...
Read moreWhat was expected to be a fun dining experience, turned into an unpleasant experience. Upon arrival, oscillating fans were blowing warm air with restaurant’s main entrance door ajar allowing for bugs and flies. My family kept shooing away the flies that landed in our meals. A family member discovered a human hair on the side of the condiment’s squared dish. We brought this to the waitress attention who believed that it may have been due to the fans also blowing in the kitchen where the dishes are prepped. The waitress was kind to compensate us for the inconveniences that we endured. Furthermore, none of the female waitresses wore hair nets which is mandatory especially when warm air is blowing throughout the dining area. Overall this was an unsatisfactory dining experience and do not expect to be returning to this location anytime soon. Two of the waitresses were courteous and kind while a third wore a frown face the entire time we were dining. It’s apparent she did not want to be there…this is the energy that she was displaying. My entire family picked up on this. She knows who she is, the one who wore the white headset “fans.” Only the wait staff acknowledged and apologized while management staff was...
