Berkshire Shopping Center — Local services in Danbury

The strip mall is nice and clean. It is essentially a TJ Maxx brand haven complete with a Home Goods, TJ Maxx, Marshalls and a rare Sierra. All it was missing was a Home Sense. I personally love these brands, so it's worth the trip.

So why the three stars?

Not safe. My daughter and I left the stores at 8:30 PM and we're accosted by a man banging on our car window to get in. (White male, 50-55 YO, 5'4"-5:6" , blue eyes, beige jacket, balding w/salt & pepper hair. He had a surgical mask on.)

We had to struggle to get out of the lot without hitting him or another car.

Thankfully, we weren't hurt, but we called the stores to let them know he was out there and to be careful. We should have called the police but we were a bit panicked...

Plenty of stores to go to. Ample parking. I do rate it 3 stars only due to its location. No matter what time of day or year there is an unpleasant smell which comes from either the garbage dump or the waste treatment plant. Plus you will see rats running in & out of the garbage cans in front of the McDonald's which is located in this shopping center. I'm a Danbury native who moved out of the area for 12 yrs. Sadly this smell situation has not been addressed. This rating is based on the different types of stores...Marshall's, Wal-Mart, Once Upon A Child, Goodwill, Homegoods, Skechers, Staples, McDonald's & even a Starbucks drive through are all in this center. 3 stars for WalMart end of plaza as it is "dumpy" ... trash needs to be picked up in front, on side and behind Once Upon A Child store, shopping carts put back in place, etc. Walkways into WalMart are litter strewn and dirty. Parking lot and traffic flow is random...people dont stop, there is criss-crossing of lanes/directions. Be careful. (Inside the store is a separate review.) And people, linger, loiter and smoke just outside the entrance ways.

5 stars for the Staples, Home Goods, TJMaxx, Sierra Trading to Zemels area which is nice. Parking lot is clean, sidewalk beneath the overhang is clean, wide and well lit. Traffic pattern...
