On October 30, 2020, I placed an online order with the Home Depot located in Daphne, AL for an air compressor. The Home Depot App indicated that there were three in stock. I made my purchase and within a few hours I received a notification stating that my item was ready to be picked up.
I waited until today (November 1st) to go an pick up my item. Upon arriving I was the only one standing in line waiting at customer pickup while 3 women behind the counter chatted amongst themselves. After several minutes, one of them finally turned from their conversation and asked if she could help.
I provided her with my order information and ID. She then processed my order she turned to a gentleman that was standing behind the counter and asked if he could help. He then made the statement in an aggravated tone that he was busy and the only one there until 9:30AM. The guy then just turned and walked off. The lady behind the counter then advised me that I had to pull down to the covered area in front of the lumber entrance and someone would load my item up there.
I pulled down and walked inside and stood inside the lumber area waiting for assistance that never came. I then got in line in the lumber area to speak with the cashier (Patricia) to see if I could get some help. She then asked who sent me down there and acted like I was doing something wrong when I was just doing what I was told by the lady at customer pickup. Finally she made a phone called and said that the associates were on the loading deck and would be with me soon.
After waiting around again I just decided to go and get the item myself. I went and grabbed a cart and loaded the item up. I was proceeding to the door when I noticed an older woman talking on the store phone in a flannel shirt (Theresa). I advised her of my situation and that I had just loaded the item myself after no one came to help. She was very snippy and said she has to check everything. She said that she just can’t let items walk out of the store (which I totally get). Had they done there jobs properly in the first place, I would not be having this experience.
As I was trying to exit the store, the sliding doors at the lumber entrance were malfunctioning and would only open a few feet wide. After waiting for then to mess with the doors (unsuccessfully) I was finally about to get out of the store. The associates did not even assist me with loading the item. Another customer exiting the store walked over and was nice enough to give me a hand loading it.
Here is the icing on the cake. When I finally get home I notice that the box had been resealed. It was a previously returned item! The compressor had air pressure in the tank still! After all this I get a used/returned item!
I know this is a lengthy rant, but I drove from Mobile which was 30 minutes out of my way for a used/previously returned item and a horrible customer service experience from the majority of my interaction with the associates.
I thought the entire purpose of an online order was for customer convenience. I guess I was wrong to assume that they would have my item picked and ready to go when I got there. I guess the “curbside pickup” services do not apply at this location. I will definitely not waste my time again with this Home Depot...

They were unwilling to price match because Lowe's didn't currently have said keychain in stock. So... I'm ordering it from Lowe's, for the cheaper price, to pick up in a couple of days 🤷🏼♀️ Talk about a ridiculous price match policy! Not to mention a ridiculous price for a keychain. 🙄 The floor employee on the other hand was incredibly helpful with getting a key cut for me & assisting on finding the proper size screws I needed.
2019 Review: Edit: The store was very cooperative in giving us a quick refund. We will still continue to shop at Home Depot, but we will NEVER use them for any kind of install job or flooring purchase. I rate them 1 star on install services - 4 stars on everything else.
I have to rate this as '1 star' because of a terrible carpeting experience. If you are considering installing carpet in your home - I would recommend NOT using Home Depot. Buyer Beware!
I noticed there are a lot of '1 star' reviews reviews that have been posted over the last 5 months - terrible customer service.
The Employee that we dealt with in the Home Depot carpet/flooring dept. was not properly educated on the carpet that we purchased. Another employee that we later dealt with provided me with inaccurate information that she got from the install company. Overall the experience resulted in us living without carpet for almost 5 weeks... we are going tonight to demand a refund, as the carpet is still not down yet.
Home Dept. has a contract with a company called US Installations [out of Pensacola]. That company was also a big problem for us... they missed the first two install dates [no call, no show]. Four days later they sent out an installer who informed me that I would have to lay additional material under the carpet. I bought a material that he said would work under the carpet. Installation was rescheduled after the second material came in. The second installer who came out did not have the additional material... but this was the companies fault, not the installer. I saw the installation form from 'US' and the company had not listed the same information that Home Depot was supposed to have provided them with. Even with the added material it was still not appropriate for our floor.
The two companies simply do not clearly communicate between each other... which can result in the customer having a VERY horrible experience. This is not the case for all Home Depot customers.... but I say It's just not worth the risk... I warn everyone to avoid using Home Depot for their carpeting needs.
Both companies need more training for their less knowledgeable employees. I did receive some great customer service from two employees who worked for US Installation, I am thankful for that. However, I dealt with a few employees from BOTH companies who either need educated or fired. One employee from US Installation really screwed us... and two others would not return out calls. Very...

She put the Daphne store manager in touch with me to work it all out. I was told that I would need to purchase the toolbox again for $925.00 and they would bring the new toolbox out on 12/20/23. At the time they brought the new one, they would pick up the damaged one. Once the damaged one was returned to the store I would be credited the $975.00 for the original purchase. So now, I have purchased this toolbox twice and still just have the one damaged one. I received a call back from the Daphne store manager, Alicia Triplett, this past Saturday to let me know that they messed up the second order as well and now that order was canceled. They stated that it was refunded but I have not seen that money back yet. THEY THEN WANTED ME TO PURCHASE IT A THIRD TIME TO MAKE IT WORK!! These people have lost their minds. I told them no. The Daphne, AL store is not running properly. The store Manager should be held accountable for what a disaster this order became. I will keep the original toolbox at this point and I just wanted them to refund some of the price discounted off the original order. They did send me a credit of $400 and something dollars toward the original purchase so I am guessing this will be resolved IF I do indeed receive all the money back they have promised. HOWEVER, I WILL NEVER AS LONG AS I LIVE BUY ANOTHER ITEM FROM HOME DEPOT. What a nightmare.
ORIGINAL ISSUE: I purchased a very large Husky brand toolbox for my husband for Christmas. I took the day off from work to have it delivered to my house. I had my neighbor take the morning off as well to help me and to hide it at their house until Christmas as we still like to surprise one another on Christmas. My delivery window was from 6 am to 10 am on 12/04/2023. 10 am came and went and no contact from the store. I called them at 10:30 and was told they were running 2 hours behind. I called work and told them I would be a bit later than expected. 1 pm came and went and still no contact and no delivery. I called again and was told it was still coming but just late. My neighbor had to leave to go to work and I was on my own. Home depot finally showed up at 8 pm and my husband was home from work by this point so Christmas was ruined AND the tool box has several places where it was damaged!!! I did not know until we unwrapped the plastic from it and by this point I had already signed for it and the delivery driver was gone. Home Depot will do nothing about it and now I am stuck with a ruined Christmas and an expensive damaged toolbox. As long as I live and breathe air, I will NEVER shop...
