I contacted the David Cook Gallery to assist in identifying, and perhaps purchasing, some of the artwork in my father’s estate. I would be in Denver for only a few days and it was a bit overwhelming, particularly because I planned to ship some of the work back to NJ. I really had no idea how I was going to do that.
And then came Linda Cook.
Linda and her associate Michael came to my Dad’s home and provided a very honest assessment of the contents. She was most interested in one of the pieces I was keeping and expressed interest in a few others but no deal was made at the time.
And yet – Linda offered to pack and send not only the artwork I was keeping but some framed family photos as well. She also offered to have the glass, backings and hangers replaced (which they did beautifully and at a nominal cost).
When I dropped these items at the gallery I also took the work that she had been interested in and she bought them on the spot. She offered a check but I suggested that after shipping my items we might be even. After that we had a wonderful conversation, I saw some beauty, met the staff, bought another item and crossed my fingers.
And just a few days later I have everything in NJ, and this stuff came packed like each piece was the Mona Lisa.
And the kicker? Linda says she owes me money. I think I’ll take a store credit, because I’m looking forward to doing business with these...
