Updated review for 2020:
Still top notch after COVID-19 reopening! Considering they are only at 50% capacity and doing a great job of following the updated COVID-19 restrictions, the limited menu still has great choices and remains fresh and new. Naturally the service was above and beyond and even though the bar is closed and the spots are more limited, I was easily able to get a good table at a time I requested to eat. I was so happy to see that our favorite servers were back and better than ever! For the loyalists of Urban Farmer...hurry back! For those that haven't been, now is the time to start! You will be happy you ventured out into the world again to try Urban Farmer, And be rest assured that they are doing a fantastic job of keeping things sanitary, wearing masks as they are meant to be worn, and have adapted better than most places I've seen since restaurants have started re-opening.
Previous review from 2019: I've been here for breakfast, lunch, happy hour, dinner and would stash myself in a hidden corner to always be here if I could. I've never had anything but the ultimate experience here and it gets better every time.
Their drinks are always on point, especially their Old Fashioned. That is my drink of choice and theirs are by far and away above any other. With all of their spirits, their pours are generous and aren't bogged down with a fruit basket of garnish. Their happy hour is an amazing deal and the bar menu has plenty of options. You can order from the full menu if you prefer eating at the bar. I will say, they do get full quickly so get there early if you want to enjoy the happy hour. Their libations selection is large and I LOVE that they have so many local companies. There is liquor from up the road to Japan or Scotland and more! Leopold Bros to Hibiki.
Their dinner is even better than the happy hour, if that is even possible. I've had their Wagyu, beef, chicken and just about any protein they serve and it is always superb and the highest quality. Of the many many times I've been here, only once was my lamb done a bit too much. They fixed it immediately and never made me feel bad about sending something back, which I hate doing! The second time around it was perfection as it has been every other visit.
I went here once for their Mimosa and Bloody Mary bar and it is a great place to get the "hair of the dog." Or, just start your day off right. The food is wonderful and has a great selection, even for those of us that HATE eggs. It is so hard for me to find a good breakfast place b/c of that and I was so happy that I could find plenty of choices.
Yes, they are a bit pricey, but no more than you'd pay for any other high end steakhouse and I've been to them all. Bang for your buck, Urban Farmer is worth...
Read moreFirst off I’d like to say that I’ve been here several times, so not all experiences were like this. I raved about Urban for awhile before bringing my friends from out of town- super embarrassing now that I think of it.
To start us off the hostess was incredibly rude. Very monotone, expressionless. I had to actually ask how her day was because I felt so uncomfortable & of course she replied “good” I couldn’t really hear her under her muffled tone though. Not only was it rude, but incredibly bad vibes. I thought maybe she was having a bad day, or quite possibly her personality was that dry but then I saw her interacting with other tables & she had quite the opposite interaction. Luckily our waiter, Riggs made up for it. (He did the best he could in all of this experience)
Next for the evening was the oysters- creamy…. creamy, stringy oyster. We asked another waitress what she thought about the oysters (not Riggs because we hadn’t seen him in 15 minutes) We realized how different & abnormal/concerning the oysters were tasting. The waitress also made a very concerned face & said personally that those didn’t look normal. She followed up with saying she would find our waiter, Riggs over. When Riggs came to look at the oysters he was also concerned- said he would talk to the cooks & manager & see what they had to say.
Of course, to our assumption he did not acknowledge the oyster issue when he came back to the table.. lol. We had to say something & no apologies were made whatsoever. He said “they were likely fine & that’s just how they processed” with no further explanation.
I will say if I were running a business & my customers were concerned about getting food poisoning, I would be the first to be out there helping ease their mind.
The main courses were delicious & the scallops & puréed potatoes are amazing. Highly recommend those two dishes.
I was contemplating asking for a manager during my meal but I thought I’d write a review until he was standing at the front of the restaurant with the hostess that put a terrible taste in our mouths. I decided to let her know that our first impression walking in was pretty awful especially after seeing her interaction with the other tables were. The manager shook his head multiple times with a smirk on his face like he didn’t care/nor agreed with anything that I was saying. A word didn’t come out of his mouth. I was dumbfounded to be honest. I was so fond of this restaurant & within 1 visit I am writing this awful review. Speaks volumes because I don’t write reviews on...
Read moreWent here for Valentine’s Day as neither of us had been before and wanted to try somewhere new. We were welcomed in and seated immediately by one of the managers who told us about their special dinner options for the evening and that they also had some cocktail specials that we could ask our server about. Our server, Nicholas, came over and poured our water. I asked about the drink specials and he said they didn’t have any except for Moet Rose. I was disappointed and surprised as the manager made it sound like there were multiple options. We ordered our cocktails and 2 Caesar salads. Nicholas asked if we knew what we wanted to eat. We did but hadn’t planned on ordering yet as we wanted to enjoy our cocktail and salad first. Feeling rushed, we went ahead and ordered our filets. We were served our salads and weren’t even halfway finished when our filets came out of the kitchen. The server saw we were still eating our salads and returned to the kitchen. About 6 minutes later when we were almost finished with our salads the main meal was served. Nicholas explained the special preparations made in the Brussels sprouts and the twice baked potato tart. The filet was so cold that the pad of truffle butter on top did not even melt. The Brussels sprouts were not especially hot either. We felt completely rushed and uncared for since most of our main meal was served at room temperature at best, if not cold. That being said, the food was delicious. The Caesar salad had a perfect amount of dressing and the croutons were light and crunchy. The blue cornbread served out of a mason jar with fresh butter was the best cornbread I’ve ever eaten. The filets were absolutely the most tender cut of meat in the Denver metro area. The Brussels weren’t my favorite- nice enough flavor but I do like a little crunch and that was not present in this dish. The twice baked potato tart was very good. As we were paying our bill I overheard a female server a table over explaining the several cocktail specials they had to offer such as a delicious tiramisu martini. So apparently they did have special cocktails to offer and we just had the unfortunate experience of having a server that was more interested in turning tables than providing his guests with all of the options available for an elevated experience. Overall, we most likely will not return due to the service. There are so many nice restaurants to choose from when making a dining selection and when you’re paying over $300 for your meal, service is just as important as the...
