Denver should never have instituted or maintained the so-called "camping ban", passed at the behest of the Downtown (Business) Partnership. The Partnership is a blot on Denver; its success in criminalizing homelessness exemplifies the domination of Denver's corrupt political machine by Downtown moneyed interests and the City's history of misgovernment. Rather than redirect our subsidies of ratbag hotels on Colfax (how the City now spends most of the budget of Denver's Road Home, its ostensible program to help the homeless) to the construction, maintenance, and staffing of dormitories, transitional housing, and safe camping areas or programs which might draw transients away from the 16th Street Mall voluntarily, the Partnership has set Denver on a policy of direct confrontation of the homeless -- and the requirements of the Bill of Rights.
Denver's ruling class, its Collaborationist (Democratic) Sonamubulists and the foolish young Collaborationist Zombies recently moved here, whose machine maladministers Denver, can dispense with pretense that this is a liberal or progressive place. The Partnership is more interested in animadverting against the homeless than in making money anyway, and their members should stop doing the latter entirely so they can concentrate on the former.
