Blue Agave Grill — Restaurant in Denver

Visited here tonight, (Valentines) dinner with my partner. We had reservations for 830, in which we were 15 minutes late due to parking. We called to ensure our reservation was still secure and were told we were ok. The menu was a 3 course Valentine’s selection, which included a choice of the $45 menu or the $65 menu. The $65 menu included more seafood options like sea bass, salmon and shrimp. You get to choose an adult beverage an appetizer an entree and a dessert. For my entree, I chose the chicken breast, which was on a nice serving of mashed potatoes with asparagus. It was 10/10. For my starter they had 3 options and they all contained either pork or seafood, in which I don’t eat. The waitress gave some major pushback when asking if we could substitute something for chicken. She finally gave in and asked the cooks and they were more than willing to accommodate us. So I ordered the pork belly street tacos only with grilled chicken, the meat was so tender and honestly one of the best street tacos I probably ever had. My partner had the steak enchiladas and chips and guacamole which was amazing. We each finished the night off with dessert which we both chose different flavored brownies (not pictured). Food is VERY good. Everything was going great until the check came, my partner realized he left his wallet at home on accident. We needed some time for him to transfer money into my account to satisfy the bill. We literally only needed like 15 uninterrupted minutes so my partner could deposit the money via his online bank to me. Us having to stop and explain everything to her again caused a distraction. The waitress I believe her name was maddy was very impatient. We explained the situation to her as she literally seen my partner eagerly trying to transfer the money to me. She kept returning like every 3-4 minutes asking if we were ready, when clearly we were still trying to get the money into my account. Then she said “my manger needs me to take the check”….which how would you take a check if the payment isn’t enclosed yet? My partner was already irritated at himself that he left his wallet and she showed absolutely no compassion. I understand they were closing but we did NOT plan on that happening. Then she sat at an empty table “folding napkins” … conveniently where the exit was, in which we felt as though she felt like we were trying to walk out. He is a great tipper and her tip was decreased substantially. It was important to my partner and i that our night went perfect and she ruined it. They are very unprofessional with their catering services. I tried to place an order and received a response from Briana via email. I informed them that I was interested in their services and wanted to proceed, but I never received a confirmation. On the day I needed the catering, I called them, and they said nothing was finalized and they could no longer fulfill my catering order due to short notice. How unprofessional.

Not only did they fail to confirm my order, but they also didn’t offer any solutions or alternatives when I reached out. I had to scramble at the last minute to find another catering service, which added unnecessary stress to my event planning. Their lack of communication and organization is extremely disappointing, and I would not recommend their services to anyone looking for reliable and professional catering.

Response: Thank you for your response. To clarify, I submitted an inquiry two days before the event, not 22 hours prior, as you mentioned. Your team later sent me the menu, to which I replied with my order. However, I never received confirmation or further communication from your end.

When I called in the morning, I was simply told, "Sorry, your order was never confirmed and we can no longer fulfill it on such short notice." The person on the phone did not provide any alternatives. This is incredibly unprofessional. Not confirming an order is unacceptable, especially when I reached out well in advance. If your team was too busy, clear communication would have been appreciated. Additionally, your response to my review was dishonest as no alternatives were provided and the time frame when I ordered was incorrect.

I have been to the Blue Agave Grill in Denver twice before and had amazing experiences both times. However, this third most recent experience has made the Blue Agave Grill my most favorite restaurant in Denver! To start, the menu is a perfect size and has something for almost anyone. My friends and I are vegetarian, and they have amazing options that are not an after-thought. I have gotten the Avocado Tacos all three times I have been, because they are just that great! The drinks and cocktails are also out of this world, and are often easily made non-alcoholic as well. I had the Lavender Margarita and Lemon Drop shot which was so well made and extremely smooth. The service has been absolutely amazing all three of my visits, however, this past visit was the best customer service I have ever received in a restaurant. I had called to book a reservation over the phone which was extremely fast and easy. The host, Taylor, that took my reservation was apparently flattered from our interaction over the phone and went out of their way to write an extremely sweet note that had the some of the staff going out of their way to greet me. The hostess, Emily, who sat us the evening we came was absolutely amazing and so sweet. After finding out that we were celebrating my 21st birthday, the manager, Brent, and our waitress, Keaunna, went out of their way to make my birthday as special as they possibly could within their means. I am so deeply grateful for their service as it truly made my birthday absolutely perfect.
