Being that I am in a wheel chair, I had called ahead to ensure that I would have an accessible room for my stay, which was confirmed. While the only rooms with roll-in showers were king rooms (and we needed a room with multiple beds), the staff (I want to say Moises, but I could have the name wrong) went out of his way to make sure that a bench was procured prior to my stay so that I could make a tub work in an accessible room. Upon arrival, we quickly learned that the bathroom in the "accessible" queen room was not going to work, as the bathroom was only big enough to get a wheelchair into with the door open (in front of the shower, blocking access to it), but not big enough to allow the door to be closed (the term "accessible" is often misleading in older buildings that have been converted into and/or updated hotels, so this is not the first time I've encountered this). As soon as we realized the issue, we called down to the front desk and spoke with Abigail and Yasmin who had checked us in just a few minutes prior. I went down to speak with them about our options, and Abigail went above and beyond to remedy the situation. She made a list of all possible rooms in the hotel that she thought might work for us, and Yasmin (who was only on her 3rd day of work, I believe) took me to individually tour each room. We settled on the best option for me, and were able to get me and my brothers moved over to a room that could accommodate us without any problems. The efforts of the entire staff ensured that my brothers and I had an excellent stay, and were able to celebrate my brother's 30th birthday in comfort and ease, which is not always a given with my condition. While I generally go out of my way to stay at a Courtyard (or other Marriott property) whenever feasible, this past trip just confirmed and reinforced why I do so. It's clear that management (Abigail, in this case) is empowered to make decisions that are both beneficial for guests and the company, and I appreciate that the guest-first mentality extends to all levels of employees (Moises & Yasmin). I could not have been happier with our stay, or the level of service that we received. This was the best Courtyard stay that I've ever had, and I don't think that I've ever had a bad one to...
Read moreIf I could give this hotel a zero, I would. My daughter and I came to Denver for a concert. Upon arrival, the "manager" at the front desk was quite rude. We stayed 10/8-10-9/22. Our room rate with tax was over 300 for the night. At that price, you would at least expect politeness from the staff, especially the "front desk manager". Upon trying to check in, there continued to be a "problem" with my card, after trying 2, and then calling for information regarding why they were decling, we find out they were charging $408! Instead of he $311 for our reservation. At this time, the "manager" had gone to lunch and left the issue with the other lady out front. We brought up our things, went to our room, and we're VERY surprised by the dismally room we were given for our night. No coffee, no bathtub, room was EXTREMELY small, not at all how pictured on the website. We waited for the "manager" to return from her lunch to express our disappointment. We asked only for free parking out front, she refused. She refused o to listen to the charge that I was showing her on our card and kept blaming my card for wrong amount, instead of taking responsibility for a mistake. She NEVER apologized or asked how they could fix the issue. She just kept telling me I was wrong The charge of $408 is still on my credit card. Our room was not properly supplied with amenities that you would expect after paying that much for 1 night. The microwave was on the floor, the refrigerator was barely cold, the water wouldn't get but like warm, the hotel had a smell to it and homeless people were walking in off the street at night and carrying in their trash bags and going to the desks, where NO ONE was present. No locks on the front door for only hotel guests could come in. Anyone off the street can walk in. It was absolutely filthy outside, I will NEVER stay at this hotel again. Nor will I recommend this hotel to anyone staying in downtown Denver. The most important part was the front desk "manager" who was just the most rude, and inconsiderate person I have come into contact with in the service industry. She should NOT be the first person you come into contact with....
Read moreFive stars because Tucker Nadal is amazing. I booked a pretty long stay about 7 days and needed a room that would be very comfortable. I like a certain layout, I also like being away from elevators, and a few other things. Tucker made sure I was satisfied with my room. And I was! He showed patience, and upmost professionalism. The hotel itself is beautiful with a fireplace and friendly staff, like Carlos. I did not meet a bad person. Everyone was courteous from housekeeping to maintenance. The rooms are dated, and it shows. However, the hotel is very clean. I was very pleased with the cleanliness of my room. I almost did not book this hotel because of all the "homeless" reviews. Yes, there are homeless - outside. I did not have any issues going in or out, or feeling uncomfortable. The hotel is like a safe haven so whatever is going on out there does not affect what is inside. The hotel doors are also locked after a certain time and u need a key for most entrances.
The hotel is also quiet at night. I had excellent night sleep and the AC is reliable and not noisy. Good working mini fridge and microwave.
About food - there is a Starbucks. I only used it once. I found the options limited and always a long line. But it is good if you have no other resort and starved. The area has plenty of other coffee options like Panera and other places which may be a few blocks walk. You may find yourself walking to the Dairy District direction for grub or Menya Noodles right across the street.
I was disappointed in the Mall area itself. It wasnt so much of a mall, hardly any A or B shopping. And alot of the stores still looks closed or abandoned. You have to venture a little further out.
I always say you get to really know a hotel as a long stay guest. You get the see the inconsistencies and what is working and not.
I highly recommend this hotel for the solo traveler. Who wants a safe, cozy place to stay with friendly staff and walking distance to...
