This is an amazing local restaurant where you can get alcoholic malt shakes for cheap. Along the CBD water, and a large assortment of delicious artisanal burgers. All with beautiful outdoor seating just across from three of Denver's most iconic locations. The dark interior is styled after a classic fast casual burger joint, with "City mob Life" being the theme. I find this interesting considering Colorado's history with the mob and how it pertains to real estate. If you ask me, the aesthetic is just a nice touch on a delicious meal. And while I found that the price of one of those meals can vary substantially. The quality never will. I highly recommend one of their Berry flavored alcoholic shanks, as it has the right mix of sweet creamy, and Tang. Another benefit to this location then I will touch on is that you can clearly see how busy it is just by looking at it as its large bay windows allow you to easily see into the building. And it's deck seating always seems to fill up very quickly on a warm day. So while it's cramped quarters can result in an echo chamber of loud noises, You don't actually need to worry about that if you pay attention to when you go. Another reason outdoor seating probably fills up a lot is because the internal seating can be a little uncomfortable, especially if you're not in a booth behind the ordering counter. There are several seats in front of the host and the kitchen that are basically in the doorway, whether it's a hot or cold day, these seats make you feel like you're not fully in the restaurant and prevent me from fully relaxing. However, it is a good spot to rest and sit if you're a doordash driver. Waiting for your order. So I suppose there's that. The last thing I'll mention is it's right across the street from rocket fizz which is a chain of toy and candy stores. They can be found all around Colorado. This makes this restaurant a perfect stop on any young adult exploration...
Read moreToday my son went to get food for dinner after work (Writer square location). As soon as he walked in he asked the cashier ( Major) if he could use the restroom, the cashier rudely replied "are you going to buy something?". My son replied "yes, I am". My son then was walking to the restroom when a second person, (the manager, Jeremiah) who was next to the cashier when my son first asked, approached my son saying with an attitude that " the restrooms are for paying customers only". My son replied " I know".
Now, my son ordered 5 hamburgers and specifically told the cashier how he wanted each of the hamburgers. Again, whenever the cashier asked my son what type of bread he wanted, the cashier did it so with a rude tone of voice and an attitude. When my son asked what type of sauces they had, the cashier didn't even bother to answer and simply told my son "they're right there on the menu".
As soon as we received the order, 4 of the hamburgers were made wrong. When I called to speak to a manager to complain about the service, the order and the manner in which my son was treated after he asked to use the restroom, the person in charge was dismissive and unhelpful and even he remarked that the cashier did nothing wrong. The hamburgers were unacceptable, we just spent over 50 dollars in your establishment and even if we only spent a dollar, we don't deserve to be treated this way.
Your manager Jeremiah didn't have a clue on how to defuse the situation and this made him seem inadequate for his position. This is a customer service based business and you are clearly lacking on everything that it represents. Your employees just pissed 5 different customers who relay this experience with prospect customers.
I suspect that my son was treated that way because of how he was dressed, obviously with work clothes.
We as a whole,...
Read moreThe food is ok. Not great but not bad. This review though is focused on the service.
My son and I went to get him a meal since he did not eat breakfast. I say this because they lost out on a group of 14 people already planning to go eat there. With the service we got, we all decided to visit a place that valued its customers instead.
When I ordered his $10 burger and $4 waffle fries I was presented with the all so common now days pay and tip the cashier screen.
Here is where it goes downhill. I tip. I am a great tipper. Usually 25%. My mother was a waitress her whole life. I support the service industry. But I will not tip a cashier before I get service or food. If all went ok I would have dropped 3 or 4 dollars in the tip jar for the employees to share (bill was $15).
Instead, the cashier kindly said under his breath, "I love working for free for people like you". That could be slightly off, but it was pretty close. I assume he wanted me to hear him since even my son repeated what he said to me later.
So, I see 2 issues here.
One is either the restaurant does not pay well or at all. Is the cashier getting waiter wages? Is Alex working for free? If so management needs to be reported to the authorities. I assume that is not the case. I bet Alex the cashier just does not understand what real service is.
Two is that no service has yet to be rendered to justify any tip. Do you know what a tip is? If you expect $20 an hour to type in my order and stand there while I pay, you should bring that up to management. With $10 tiny burgers and $4 for about 6 waffle fries I am sure they can pay you millions to be a cashier.
So, to sum this up. The food was over priced. The employees were rude and completely undeserving of any tips.
Oh, and the bartender was picking his nose at the bar. That was...
