We had a blast and laughed the night away, said the bartender who was only here because (his words not mine) he was sentenced to court ordered community service. The Denver Rock Bottom Brewery was established at the bottom of the Rock (Prudential that is) in 1991. Located on the first floor next to the Denver Prudential building, they have continued to be the foundation of an ever evolving ownership including Gordon Biersch (see my Taipei review of that American Pearl of the Orient). A daring, progressive menu of American favorites like Philly Cheesesteak, Nashville Hot Chicken, & Tater Tot Fondue, as well as break throughs like Habenero Grilled Chicken make this place an addition to your international cuisine bucket list. Their proprietary Blood Mary mix is amazing, with or without alcohol. They have 6 sauces for wings, etc, that are some of the best I have tasted: BBQ, Thai Chili, and Nashville Hot, to name a few. And, if they don't brew it on site they source it locally, including the best crisp cider you will have ever tasted. Sure they brew their own beer here. They are the third oldest microbrew in Denver, CO. That rubs shoulders with Blue Paddle and Fat Tire, brewed up the road. In fact, each Rock Bottom, has their own creative license to when it comes to to their brew. Each site's brewmaster has ultimate say over the recipe, making each site's beer somewhat unique. The service, attention to detail, and efficiency set RBB apart from the herd. Their unique but complete menu, well stocked bar, and commitment to excellence will make your culinary experience one of your best. Oh, and did I mention that their Foggy Bottom won the 2023 GABF best Porter. Always available seating, handicap accessible, and no reservations. Eat, drink, and be merry here, now. Because tomorrow, you may be in Utah.

Honestly, don’t know where to begin with my experience last night. I’m a server so I expect higher standards when receiving service at other restaurants. Family and I are from FL, walked the 16th street mall and came across your restaurant. Looked up reviews which aren’t even great but decided to give it a chance since it was the only thing open where we were. After 10 minutes, regretted it. Took the server at least 10-15 minutes to come greet us, place didn’t even look that busy. We all order water and a couple beers, came back about 10-15 minutes later. No straws, waited for those. After that, took some time to take our order and we ended up waiting 50+ minutes for food. The worst part comes next, as a vegan and someone who ordered a beyond burger which you would think does not require much time. My burger arrived burnt to a crisp. You’d think if you burned something, you’d at least put the burnt side down to make it less obvious?! Didn’t even do so. First off, I would have taken one glance at that and sent it back to the kitchen. Even with the time my customers waited, I would have NEVER sent that out. Fries weren’t even hot or warm and hard as a rock as if they sat out for longer than 10 minutes. Told our server to just take the burger off the bill and I didn’t want anything else. She proceeded to tell me that they could make me another burger because the kitchen wasn’t even busy so they could make it quick?! Well if they aren’t even busy, why did it take so long in the beginning or why was it burnt? No apology at all, we just asked for the bill and got out of there. You would think with the neat set up and being a brewery, the experience would be absolute. Hope something changes…

Ate here on Monday June 22nd, and was exceptionally disappointed in the service and food. Initially when I came in it took a few minutes before a server came by, and took our entire order at that time. They were curt, but polite. Later, they brought our sodas, and we saw them once more shortly before our food arrived. I mention this in detail because when I say that's the only time we saw them, that was truly it - we had to find other staff to get our bill around 30 minutes after we had finished eating, as we never saw them after. Additionally, the food wasn't great, but most disappointingly the issues with it were in ways that would have been very easily fixed if our waiter had stopped by at all once we had gotten it. For example, the bun on my burger was exceptionally stale, while the rest of the burger was perfectly fine. I'd expect it was simply a bad bun, which can happen at the best of restaurants, and hardly something worth criticizing as it's a very simple fix with very little effort. Sadly, no one was around to make any effort.

To be perfectly clear, absolutely everyone I talked to was polite, I certainly don't mean to give any misconceptions anyone was rude. The staff in my section just seemed to be entirely absent, which is the root of the issue.

Rock Bottom typically has a great menu with great food, and I came today because of previous good experiences. Unfortunately, I'm not sure those previous good experiences really outweigh my experience today, as having a good meal 2 out of 3 times I've come, isn't really a ratio I'm impressed by. This could have been just the staff having an off day or perhaps being more busy than I realized, but it's 16th street mall, I have other options, and I'll probably end up choosing somewhere else for dinner next time. If you're looking for a consistent experience, and this review is still recent when you're reading this, you may want to wait a few months before trying this location for the Rock Bottom team to iron out whatever was going on today. Because this really can be a great restaurant, it was a few years ago, but right now, I'm...

I don’t typically go out of my way to write negative reviews so for me to do this shows that I had a very bad experience. I visited Denver for the very first time yesterday and after a long day of traveling with young kids, my family just wanted to find some food so we ended up at Rock Bottom - which honestly lives up to its name. After being seated, it took forever just for someone to come up and get our drink order. I’m not sure who the server was but he had his hair in a ponytail, he has a black beard, tattoos and nail polish. He is honestly so rude, I would never recommend this place to anyone EVER. So here’s the story.. He never brought any straws for our drinks. We politely asked for some and while he is walking away, I realized I wanted to order an appetizer. So I’m trying to get his attention saying “Excuse me sir? Excuse me!” And he continues walking so I assumed he hadn’t heard me. My sister made a comment saying “I’m sure he heard you!” I tried giving him the benefit of the doubt but he returned a minute later, stomped his feet and said “Yes?” with an attitude. So we were appalled because if you heard me the first time, why did you keep walking away and ignoring me? Anyways I brushed it off but everyone else in my family was already becoming increasingly uncomfortable and wondered if we were experiencing some sort of racism. So anywho, the server returned with the straws and my husband held his hand out to take them, and the server placed them on the table instead and rolled his eyes. At that point we were like forget about it. My husband told him we were leaving and the server just said “ok”. And as we were leaving, I noticed he slammed the door behind us. I didn’t even bother talking to a manager right then and there because I had two tired and hungry kids. For that being my first restaurant experience in a city I never visited before, I was extremely disappointed. Based on other reviews I see here, this seems to be a trend so I’m glad we decided to leave. Honestly, you guys should take better care of...

JAN 2023: For the second time in two visits to this Rock Bottom location, my credit card charge was altered, increasing the tip amount from what I wrote, which was already over 20%. (Server this time was Kaleb.) Clearly management here could care less that credit card fraud seems to be happening on a regular basis.

This on top of the fact that we requested to be seated AWAY from the bar area (very loud due to football playoff game on TV) and we were seated at the table directly adjacent to the bar area. It was 3pm on a Sunday and there were more empty tables than customers, so this was a pretty reasonable request. But apparently the staff seems to not only ignore customer requests, but in fact does the exact opposite Just to spite the customer. This was not just a case of misunderstanding because we physically pointed where we would prefer to sit (area of more than a half dozen empty tables near the entrance.)

Review now reduced to 1-star. Hopefully this Rock Bottom location will close as well like many of the others and a new company more focused on customer service can take over the building / brewery. Bad service once, fine it happens. Bad service and credit card fraud every time we visit... we are never coming back to this RB location. I generally enjoy RB and visited three locations in three states this month, but we're done with the Denver location.

MARCH 2022: The food and atmosphere were fine, but the experience was soured when I checked my credit card statement and discovered that our server, Madelyn, changed the tip amount. When I signed the receipt the tip amount was 18.1%. When the customer's drinks are empty and you walk by the table not once, not twice, but three times before you even make eye contact and ask if we would like to order another drink... That's why the tip was 18%. And when you take it upon yourself to change the customer's signed credit card slip,...
