Ate here on Monday June 22nd, and was exceptionally disappointed in the service and food. Initially when I came in it took a few minutes before a server came by, and took our entire order at that time. They were curt, but polite. Later, they brought our sodas, and we saw them once more shortly before our food arrived. I mention this in detail because when I say that's the only time we saw them, that was truly it - we had to find other staff to get our bill around 30 minutes after we had finished eating, as we never saw them after. Additionally, the food wasn't great, but most disappointingly the issues with it were in ways that would have been very easily fixed if our waiter had stopped by at all once we had gotten it. For example, the bun on my burger was exceptionally stale, while the rest of the burger was perfectly fine. I'd expect it was simply a bad bun, which can happen at the best of restaurants, and hardly something worth criticizing as it's a very simple fix with very little effort. Sadly, no one was around to make any effort.
To be perfectly clear, absolutely everyone I talked to was polite, I certainly don't mean to give any misconceptions anyone was rude. The staff in my section just seemed to be entirely absent, which is the root of the issue.
Rock Bottom typically has a great menu with great food, and I came today because of previous good experiences. Unfortunately, I'm not sure those previous good experiences really outweigh my experience today, as having a good meal 2 out of 3 times I've come, isn't really a ratio I'm impressed by. This could have been just the staff having an off day or perhaps being more busy than I realized, but it's 16th street mall, I have other options, and I'll probably end up choosing somewhere else for dinner next time. If you're looking for a consistent experience, and this review is still recent when you're reading this, you may want to wait a few months before trying this location for the Rock Bottom team to iron out whatever was going on today. Because this really can be a great restaurant, it was a few years ago, but right now, I'm...
Read moreI don’t typically go out of my way to write negative reviews so for me to do this shows that I had a very bad experience. I visited Denver for the very first time yesterday and after a long day of traveling with young kids, my family just wanted to find some food so we ended up at Rock Bottom - which honestly lives up to its name. After being seated, it took forever just for someone to come up and get our drink order. I’m not sure who the server was but he had his hair in a ponytail, he has a black beard, tattoos and nail polish. He is honestly so rude, I would never recommend this place to anyone EVER. So here’s the story.. He never brought any straws for our drinks. We politely asked for some and while he is walking away, I realized I wanted to order an appetizer. So I’m trying to get his attention saying “Excuse me sir? Excuse me!” And he continues walking so I assumed he hadn’t heard me. My sister made a comment saying “I’m sure he heard you!” I tried giving him the benefit of the doubt but he returned a minute later, stomped his feet and said “Yes?” with an attitude. So we were appalled because if you heard me the first time, why did you keep walking away and ignoring me? Anyways I brushed it off but everyone else in my family was already becoming increasingly uncomfortable and wondered if we were experiencing some sort of racism. So anywho, the server returned with the straws and my husband held his hand out to take them, and the server placed them on the table instead and rolled his eyes. At that point we were like forget about it. My husband told him we were leaving and the server just said “ok”. And as we were leaving, I noticed he slammed the door behind us. I didn’t even bother talking to a manager right then and there because I had two tired and hungry kids. For that being my first restaurant experience in a city I never visited before, I was extremely disappointed. Based on other reviews I see here, this seems to be a trend so I’m glad we decided to leave. Honestly, you guys should take better care of...
Read moreJAN 2023: For the second time in two visits to this Rock Bottom location, my credit card charge was altered, increasing the tip amount from what I wrote, which was already over 20%. (Server this time was Kaleb.) Clearly management here could care less that credit card fraud seems to be happening on a regular basis.
This on top of the fact that we requested to be seated AWAY from the bar area (very loud due to football playoff game on TV) and we were seated at the table directly adjacent to the bar area. It was 3pm on a Sunday and there were more empty tables than customers, so this was a pretty reasonable request. But apparently the staff seems to not only ignore customer requests, but in fact does the exact opposite Just to spite the customer. This was not just a case of misunderstanding because we physically pointed where we would prefer to sit (area of more than a half dozen empty tables near the entrance.)
Review now reduced to 1-star. Hopefully this Rock Bottom location will close as well like many of the others and a new company more focused on customer service can take over the building / brewery. Bad service once, fine it happens. Bad service and credit card fraud every time we visit... we are never coming back to this RB location. I generally enjoy RB and visited three locations in three states this month, but we're done with the Denver location.
MARCH 2022: The food and atmosphere were fine, but the experience was soured when I checked my credit card statement and discovered that our server, Madelyn, changed the tip amount. When I signed the receipt the tip amount was 18.1%. When the customer's drinks are empty and you walk by the table not once, not twice, but three times before you even make eye contact and ask if we would like to order another drink... That's why the tip was 18%. And when you take it upon yourself to change the customer's signed credit card slip,...
