I secured room at Mariott North Doral 5/27/23 online through Expedia. 179 plus change. IĀ Lyfted to the hotel from the Port of Miami.Ā They gave me a hard time over a fifty dollar incidental fee I did not have on my card that was on hold. Although I had plenty of cash, they would not even hold a hundred. I called a relative who cash apped me some money that I deposited to a bank card and was able to check in. The first manager was attempting to help me problem solve when I asked if they take prepaid cards and the nearest location. Her manager was rude and stated it had to be on a regular card. Ok..reprocess. Refund..not now because it was in.process through Expedia,Ā dilemma, well I'm a crisis manager so... keep reprocessing. They would not hold cash like Hilton. He walked by, looked at me, and kept going but looked surprised whenĀ I stepped up and swiped in a bit later. Forget a free breakfast, not even a continental it is not complimentary after paying almost 180 for one night. In addition, the room was very dusty. The lounge chair had stains that I did not know what type. I ordered Ubereats pizza delivery, I would have paid for fancy named "Bistro," but I refused. Furthermore, the "Marketplace" near the front lobby desk had snacks and drinks. I took $12 down and thought I could get my snack on with $2.00 or $2.50 for a Pepsi 20oz, candy and chip, think again, she charged me $5 per Pepsi...yeah I paid it. š¤ why to kick myself and remind myself never again to stay at least at this Marriott. I later sent my grandson for paper coffee cups the $5 Pepsi girl told him not now because she was alone with 15 people trying to check in...just no comfort for at least me here except the cloudy warm pool...
Addition: Update 11:35pm.. Ok...sooo... update. I feel sort of bad about $5 Pepsi girl. I went back downstairs to request paper coffee cups but found that she was swamped. I stopped and teased at the register while looking at at least 20 people in line. I asked her if there were paper cups, and she stated she couldn't get them right now with a smile on her face. I said, "Where's housekeeping?" And she said their not here. I asked where's the manager was? There's no manager she replied, and even if he was here, only one register works. I told her that's not good! She replied, "No, it's not." She's all alone....boo hoo š!Ā So.. I took incentive to go and get my own paper coffee cups in the Bistro. Marriott Corporate, are you getting this!? Dang š just fix the register and recruit people to help her who at least like their job in...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWe stayed there twice: On either side of a cruise departing from Port of Miami. We chose it based on location between MIA and the port. We were told there is shuttle service for the airport (true and complimentary) and the port (we later learned it is available TO the port at a reasonable cost of $12 per person, but it is not available for the return trip so a taxi must be hired at a high expense which we learned after we had committed to this location). We had two queens in one stay and a king for the other stay. Both rooms were very clean and had modern decor. Free internet was slow, but faster internet was available for a fee. The pool was nice. The location of the hotel is awkward because it is not really visible from the main road and is accessible only from what seems like a back road; very unattractive. Use your GPS to find it. Don't stay here if you don't like low flying airplanes; this did not bother us because we chose it for its close proximity to the airport. We saw no one other than guests except for the one time we spotted a maid who was vacuuming the hallway, the gentleman who drives the airport shuttle (very little English) , and the ladies at the front desk. Don't bother phoning the front desk because the line is constantly busy; you will be better off going there yourself. If you are there without a vehicle, be prepared to hike or call a very expensive taxi if you need something. We did find a tiny convenience store at a gas station about 1/2 mile away (in 93 degree heat) and walked a bit farther to find an open restaurant on a Sunday afternoon. There is a nearby bus route which might get you to a Walmart 1-1/2 miles away, but the bus service is less regular on the weekends. And the front desk will not offer any advice other than to hire a taxi. If you need extra towels, expect the guy delivering them to peer over your shoulder to see what is going on in your room. In short, the facility is nice and clean, the location stinks if you are without a vehicle on the weekend, and the front desk is not helpful. Too bad, because this place has so much potential. Next time we are in Miami, we will find alternate...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI was utterly disappointed with my stay. I live in Orlando. When I was driving down a very nice lady called & offered me an upgrade. I said yes. I arrive. While checking in My mother & daughter when to the room. About 15 mins later I enter my room. I noticed the bed was messy so I thought it was my daughter who had jumped into it. But I didn't say anything to her until the day we checked out. Then is when I find out that the bed was already messy when my family got to the room. I loved the convenience of the room being right by the pool. I didn't appreciate the two closest pool entry doors to my room were both locked. My 79 year old mom & myself who have bad knees had to walk all the way around to the other side to get in thru the only unlocked door to the pool. My daughter was in and out the room having to struggle to open & close the patio door because the handle was broken. My room only had 2 garbage cans and no plastic bags inside them. We only had one soap bar in the bathroom. The sofa bed setting was not in the room. I called for an extra set of towels & the sofabed bedding. They said they would be coming right over. 90 minutes later I had to walk to the front desk to request them again. Housekeeping came 5 mins later to give me the extra set & the sofa bed bedding. The next morning there was a few loud knocks at my door from a lady with a roster of the royal carribean employees. She was looking for the representative from Royal Caribbean who was scheduled to stay in the room. I asked for late checkout at 1:30pm. I was leaving the room at 12:45 & gave the keys to the front desk. The 2 reps at the front desk didn't even ask me how was my stay. I've always enjoyed staying at different courtyards through out the US however this by far was a terrible experience of which I would not recommend anyone to stay at this location. The only few positives was the friendly cat who I met outside at the front, the nice lady who offered me the upgrade and the nice gentleman who allowed my late checkout. Other than that this was a pretty...
