Carlos Leon, "Weekend Manager", this ones for you. It's quite difficult to comprehend how on earth this human being would be given the title of Manager. Early Saturday morning, I visited this gym in Doral for a squat session. I circled around a couple times looking for parking. On my third round, I find a convenient spot right by the front door. As I pull in, Carlos Leon runs out of the LA Fitness, stands in the spot, and starts signaling me to drive away. Highly confused by what's going on, I lower my window and ask the man what he's doing. He says that he's going to park there. I look around and there's no sight of a car anywhere. He sees that I have no intention of leaving and asks another LA Fitness Associate to stand and "hold his spot". He then walks over to his car, which was parked 10 parking spots down and moves it to the closer spot. I calmly drive over and park my car and enter the gym. I confront the front desk associate and ask to speak to management where she responds: "I have no idea who the manager is and I'm not sure what to do". The same man who had taken the parking spot walks over as he sees me clearly getting upset and asks how he can help. When I respond that I need to speak to upper management, he says that he's the "Weekend Manager". I was shocked. How can a business assign a man that lacks such simple social skills a role that is so heavily focused around customer service? When I confronted him yet again about the issue, he mentioned that I was full of myself for thinking that he was going to let me take that spot after he was waiting for it for 20 minutes. That's right LA Fitness, your Doral Weekend Manager, waits inside the gym for parking spots to open up, steals them from club members, and then disrespects them. When asked for his name and information, he walked away and had another LA Fitness Associate write it down in a small piece of paper. Carlos Leon, you should be ashamed of yourself and you should be stripped of all management duties. The man who cleans the gym has better customer service skills and is more pleasant than you will ever be. On another occasion, this same "Manager" yelled at my friend who goes to this same gym because he grabbed a foam roller from the front desk area. Exclaiming that he needed to make the associates aware of his presence before touching anything. I'll be contacting Corporate shortly to let them know about what a pathetic human being they have managing this gym...
Read moreI was member of this gym for so many years until my credit card expired and my membership was revoked. That is not the problem, that's 100% understandable, the problem was the day I tried to go back and Mr. Ozzy in the front desk stopped me like I was a delinquent, told me I was not allowed to enter because I did not pay (he made sure everyone else heard too), when I asked him to explain the issue he was the most rude person I've ever come across, and informed that my card was declined in multiple occasions, that's when I realized that they were charging on the expired card and I apologized repeatedly for the inconvenience and said that I would gladly update that info to what he responded that he won't help me because it was too late to do anything, and repeated that I would not enter under any circumstance. I spoke to another person of the staff to see if they could help and that person was kind enough to offer me a day pass but Ozzy again said: NO, SHE IS NOT ENTERING. I was so humiliated at that point that I just wanted to go but a friend that was there told me that I could use his guest pass, and once again Mr Ozzy said: "What part of YOU ARE NOT GOING TO ENTER THE GYM you don't understand?" He was rude and disrespectful to me, my husband, my friend, humiliated me, and treated me like an actual criminal. I just told him that I understood the rules, but the way he treated me was unnecessary, and told him I would never treat people the way he treated us and I would definitely complaint, and he said: ok, but you’re not entering, do whatever you want to do, my name is Ozzy, and proceeded to spell it for me just in case I didn’t get it: O-Z-Z-Y.
I hope corporate really sees these reviews because for what I saw, these kind of complaints are...
Read moreI write this review as a gym rat/crossfitter/believer that those who pursue fitness should be granted an equal opportunity and safe environment to workout. LA Fitness has all the means of providing a gym to meet the needs of anybody wanting to get in a good workout via freeweights/machines/cardio/group classes. The only problem with this gym was the level of organization throughout the gym. There were a lot of young gym goers that really did not adhere to the codes of what a gym goer should know. Pulling barbells from different locations, leaving the weights stacked on, dumbbells all over the floor and this location doesn't have the biggest space for all the free weights. You can absolutely get your workout done but you will have to scramble. I don't believe LA Fitness in general has any rules in place about the proper behavior and ethics to uphold as a gym member nor anybody to enforce these on the floor. I would like to see management out on the floor, the staff that signs up clients to the gym out on the floor to adhere these rules, to wipe down the equipment, to tidy up the gym when its left in a mess. Instead, I see the staff on their phones, chatting with one another while the rest of the gym goes unchecked. I say this also as my first job was at a gym and as I became the assistant general manager, I was rarely in my office unless it was to do the mandatory paperwork required. If I was on my phone? I was out on the floor so I could still keep an eye out for what was happening in my gym. Take pride in such a great company such as LA Fitness to provide everything needed, but a word to management not to just this location, but go above and beyond as your...
