A Masjid by my account is for the people and the community as a whole. Today as an Itikaf participant an interesting situation unfolded which really revealed a bothersome truth that Jama Masjid one of the oldest and predominant Majid’s in Central Florida is run in a dictatorship manner.
Hafiz Usman was nice enough to offer a partition for the attendees for sleeping privacy after Fajr. Right before Zuhr, Imam Tariq came and removed the partition saying remove all this. We asked if we can put it back up after prayers so which he said this should not be here to begin with.
After prayers we reached out to him as he was leaving to question why the partition was removed. We need some privacy during sleep and there are lots of people coming in and out. He replied we have made a decision as a committee and everyone must follow it. We questioned will people in Itikaf not get facilitated by the masjid and he kept resorting to making a contract to have people sign this evening. When I pressed the question repeatedly about will the masjid not facilitate itikaf attendees I was bluntly told no they will not.
Who is this committee because they certainly are not people who sit in itikaf to know the ins and outs of what a person goes through while here all day and night. How do we as a community allow these things to keep happening? We are guests of this masjid and being dictated that we will not need accommodated by the Masjid. This is the society we live in where people are too afraid to speak up for what’s...
Read moreI had the misfortune of picking Jamma masjid for my daughter's nikkah. When we arrived we were told to have women wait outside till the mosque was empty even though the women section was seperated and was empty at the time. When the groom's family arrived with two huge baskets of sweets Mufti Tariq took one without asking like it was for him, l was told later by the groom family visiting from new york. After the nikkah on the ladies section, couple of pictures were taken of bride signing the apers of nikkah and starting to leave the masjid, when suddenly it started pouring rain. But Mufti Tariq himself and on of his croonies told the ladies to leave the masjid in the worst rain which would've lasted dor few minutes more but they insisted and did not care if the women get soaked. This is a place for people to take refuge in such situations but Mufti Tariq seems to think that he own the place. Shame on you and the people that run the place. Anything they say regarding this incidence is a lie. Shame on you. I will never return to this Masjid and will ask everyone not to come here for nikkah inside the mosque. Terrible attitude towards women. Kicking women out in pouring rain....
Read moreCame for jummuah prayer today said it starts at 1:15pm. They spent well over 40 minutes before calling the adhaan speaking and then after the adhaan was called proceeded to delay jummuah khutbah and Salat to make more announcements and speaking even passing the mic along to others to speak which is not from the Quran or sunnah to do after the adhaan is called, Praise to Allah they got money and built a larger mosque but to delay and interrupt the functions of jummuah prayer just to make announcements and and give thanks to contributors is something they should have done outside the jummuah time frame, some pep work or have busy schedules and take time off to worship Allah by praying jummuah, not everyone has the luxury to sit around for over an extra hour to listen to them to speak about things, worshipping Allah comes first as a Muslim and this should be prioritized and done properly, and not delayed for crowdfunding,
I was on a schedule and ended up not being able to pray jummuah salah. I could have went to another masjid if they weren’t going to follow there itinerary and preform...
