Pure Massage SPA — Local services in Dr. Phillips

I was in town for a trip to Disney. It was exhausting! I had a hard time finding a place that could get me and my adult daughter in for massages. It so happened that Pure Massage was able to work us both in after a couple of calls back and forth. I have to say I am pretty critical of massages having worked in the field myself for almost 18 years.

I received a very attentive and meticulous deep tissue massage. It's difficult to find someone who can intuitively adjust pressure and fully work out areas of tension. Most graze over areas briefly and barely apply enough pressure to move the top layer of skin. The massage therapist was amazing! He worked to warm up the tissue before diving in...literally up to his elbows and worked out so. Much. Tension. He continuously checked in with me about pressure and comfort...but not so much that the massage was hindered. I was a little sore the day after but felt tremendously better with increased ROM in my neck, shoulders, and low back/hips. I wish we lived locally!

My daughter described her massage from the female therapist similarly. She was just as excited to have found this gem as I was. We will definitely make an effort to visit during our next trip...

Update Sept 2025: After coming here for over a year, this update Reviews the great consistency and reliability of this Spa. Angela is a very knowledgeable massage therapist with an excellent relaxing flow. Very intuitive; she knows what needs to be done. Been getting therapeutic massage here regularly for over a year since moved from Miami. After trying many local places I can tell you this is The Place. Mia at the front desk will properly schedule you. Reasonable pricing. Ample safe parking. Very clean. Excellent place!

Prior Review 2024 Moved here from Miami 8 months ago and been looking for a smart massage therapist that really knows how the body works / connects, and has a great Flow. Finally found it here. Super clean simple place that is responsive, has reasonable price and friendly attitude. Very professional therapists; Annie, Helen and Mia (the best). Easy to coordinate appointments (I did by email). Plus for locals they have a repeat customer incentive program. Parking is abundant, safe, and it’s right by the Winn-Dixie grocery store. I have had numerous massages over the years. Some great and some not so great but I have never felt the need to leave a review for a not so great one until now. For starters the man and woman working there were arguing. The massage room smelled sour. They only provided towels to cover your body with. No sheets. Table was not heated and room was cold. The lotion/oils used were ice cold. Not warmed at all. I have no idea what technique was used but I am certain the man that gave my massage is not qualified to do so. He does not know the difference between soft and deep tissue massages even after being told no to deep tissue. He used his forearms on my back and kept hitting me on the head with his elbow. The woman that works there administered the massage to the person traveling with me. Beware. They have bars over the massage tables that she uses to hold on to as she walks on your back and legs. She massaged on and close to the vertebrae instead of the sore muscles she was asked to. I would be surprised if either of the two people working there today had any certified training at all.
