IF I COULD GIVE THIS REVIEW 0 STARS I WOULD. BY THE WAY THIS WAS A BIGGER SIZED OLDER WOMEN WITH RED HAIR I DON'T RECALL HER NAME.
Extremely Disappointing Experience â Unprofessional and Poorly Managed
Date of Visit: March 28, 2025 Time: 1:00 PM Appointment Name on Booking: Mohamed
Today I had an appointment scheduled at 1:00 PM for a haircut. I had booked the appointment under my nephewâs name, Mohamed, several days in advance. Prior to the appointment, I called the business three times to inform them I would be about 10 minutes late. Unfortunately, no one answered.
Assuming they were busy, I decided to go in anyway. When I arrived, there was only one staff member present and one child receiving a haircut. Multiple barber chairs were empty, which made it clear that the shop was not busy but rather understaffed.
I sat in the waiting area with my nephew around 1:16 PM and waited for the stylist to finish with the child. Before acknowledging meâthe next in lineâa white woman entered the salon. Instead of checking with me first, the stylist immediately addressed the new customer and inquired about her appointment.
When I was finally asked if I had an appointment, I confirmed and gave the name âMohamed.â The stylist mistakenly assumed I was with the previous family, even though I had clearly been waiting. I asked if the other party had an appointment under that name, and it became apparent that she had mistakenly given my appointment slot to someone else without verifying names properly.
When I pointed this out and questioned how she handles situations with multiple clients who share the same name, her response was dismissive: âWe never have that many people with the same name come in.â Rather than take responsibility or attempt to resolve the issue, she told me I needed to rescheduleâwhich I was willing to doâbut then escalated the situation by asking me to leave the premises altogether.
This review is not just about a missed haircut. Itâs about the poor judgment, lack of professionalism, and inability to manage a simple scheduling conflict appropriately. The stylist seemed overwhelmed and responded with defensiveness and frustration instead of accountability and grace.
If this is how the staff responds to minor confusion and late arrivalsâespecially when dealing with families and childrenâI strongly urge management to provide better training in communication and customer service. Her reaction was disproportionate and raises serious concerns about her temperament, especially in a setting that caters to children. A more measured, empathetic approach could have easily resolved this situation without creating conflict.
I sincerely hope management takes this feedback seriously. Treating paying clients with fairness, respect, and professionalism should always be...
Read moreLet me start out by saying that we LOVE Kids Hair Edina. My son has a thick head of fast growing hair. We took him to about 4 different salons and he would freak out at every single one! The last one we went to the stylist was trying to go fast and ended up cutting herself and I told my husband, âI canât do this anymore! This is embarrassing!â Then we came to the Edina location and met Theresa and have been going to her for almost 7 years with no issues. My son always called her âmy ladyâ when he was little because he couldnât remember her name. Theresa knows exactly how mom wants his hair to look, but makes sure that my son gets what he wants too. My girls have also seen Jodie while their brother gets his hair cut and we have always been very happy with their cuts too. I recently went to another salon and my youngest daughter got a botched cut...I will be taking her back to Kids Hair Edina to get it fixed! Thank you for being so amazing...not only at cutting hair but making children feel comfortable and listening to what...

I brought my sons in for faux hawks with lightning bolts shaved into the sides of their heads. Both stylists said theyâd never done that before but would try.
We left with two disappointed kids with standard undercut fades, hair lying flat against their heads. I asked about making the hair stand up like a faux hawk and the stylist said it wouldnât do that naturally â she acted as if hair product doesnât exist âŠ
It wouldâve taken two seconds to gel it upwards, so I just did myself at home. I will be recutting it too, so itâs more like a faux hawk and not your standard undercut fade.
Same thing happened last year when I came in asking for a mullet for my youngest. They had no idea what that was. How can a professional hair stylist not know what a mullet is? I had to coach her...
