Twinkle Beauty Salon — Attraction in Edison

I've been going to Twinkle exclusively for almost ten years and like the work Sonal, Tejal and Jyoti have done but all that was undone by one person in one evening. If I could give 0 stars, I would, because that's how much yesterday negated years of good eyebrows.

Yesterday, there was someone I've never seen before and she was clearly new to the salon, Dhara. I asked her to thread my eyebrows and wax my upper lip. When I was seated, she asked if I wanted threading for my forehead and I told her I wanted my eyebrows threaded and upper lip waxed. She took 30 minutes to do my work, which the regular staff could finish in a fraction of the time. She ripped off so much of my eyebrows there's very little left. It will take a very long time to grow back. When I went to pay, she told me the price was $17, while I was expecting $12, as services have been $7 for eyebrows and $5 for upper lip. She told me there was another $5 for forehead. I told her I hadn't asked for forehead and the other lady at the counter asked her and Dhara lied and said I told her yes to forehead. I did not.

I left and called the salon back to speak to the owner. I was told the owner wasn't in but would be in the following day. The lady who picked up asked what happened and I told her about how I was charged for a service I didn't ask for and did not want. She was very calm and courteous, which I appreciated very much, indicated Dhara did not understand and told me I could come back and receive a refund.

In all my time coming to Twinkle, they've never charged me for a service I didn't ask for. I appreciate that the salon was willing to offer a refund but I am quite angry at the fraudulent behavior of this lady. i wasted so much time and money and I'm stuck with eyebrows I don't like. If she really didn't understand, that's a problem for this business and the owners need to make sure they hire staff with basic comprehension. If it was malicious and she was hoping to contrive payment for an extra service, shame on her and Twinkle for scamming customers.

I have been going to Twinkle Beauty Salon for many many years and I have my reasons for being their loyal patron. Excellent services, friendly staff, cleanliness, and most of all --- affordable prices have been the greatest attractions! Special thanks to Rama and Ravi, the owners, who give special attention to minutest details so that each and every customer leaves fully satisfied and happy and looking forward to booking the next appointment. Their entire team is excellent, but to name just a few, Sonal and Hema have taken care of my beauty needs for decades now. Their work has the finesse and I often tell them that there is magic in their hands! Gloria, Anju, Patty and many others also provide great services! I had one of the worst salon experiences of my life. I asked for layers, but the stylist was clearly in a hurry and had no interest in doing the job properly. She didn’t even bother to section or part my hair correctly—just started randomly chopping away like she was in some kind of rush. It looked careless and completely unprofessional.

Hair is a huge part of a woman’s beauty, and it deserves attention and care—not five-minute hack jobs. If you don’t have the time or patience, please don’t take on customers.
