I went with my daughter on a Saturday around 5:30 PM. It wasn’t very crowded there was at least six or seven open tables and I suggested a table in the corner because we were very cold and they had the door open and it was freezing in there. I asked if I could close the door and they said yes and I asked if I could sit in a corner table which was a four top. The owner said no and insisted we sit at a two top table next to the four top table. He said they were going to get busy and that table was for four people.I looked at him surprised because I am a customer and it was our first time there and it wasn’t very accommodating. We sat down and not even five minutes later a couple walks in and he sits them at the four top. What is the difference between us and that couple? I felt a little angered but we were hungry and we decided to look at the menu and order. I ordered a seaweed salad with some vegetable spring rolls and some jasmine tea. They brought out tapwater that was room temperature and did not taste very well and the tea was cold not hot. The seaweed salad was delicious the same as I have at any sushi restaurant. The spring rolls were good although the tofu was very soft and my daughter didn’t like them. I loved the peanut sauce. I ordered the yellow curry with potatoes tofu and carrot just to be safe and my daughter ordered a noodle dish with Vegetables and Mock chicken. The yellow curry sauce was delicious however the potatoes were very undercooked and the carrots were undercooked. The mock chicken and noodles was terrible it tasted like rubber. I was sad to see my daughter did not like it and I tried it and I didn’t like it either I couldn’t even swallow it. It did not have a good flavor and it had a very rubber texture and the noodles tasted almost burnt. It had a very small amount of vegetables which my daughter ate with a couple of bites of my rice and some seaweed salad that was the portion of her dinner. By this time it had gotten a little bit more busy and the restaurant was filling up. It’s really loud in there so you can’t really hear yourself talk because people are screaming at each other across the tables. We decided to leave And as we are waiting for our check nobody came to our table. The waitress came to our table one time just to take dishes and bring our food. I signal the owner that we needed a check and we waited another 20 minutes before we got the check in the meantime he is seating people bringing people wine cleaning tables and walking around to see if everyone’s doing OK and completely ignored us. I finally get the check which was almost $50. It was my daughter’s birthday and I had said that to the waitress and she did not acknowledge her. Worst $50 ever spent. I would much rather would have spent that money on a nice homemade meal I could’ve done so much better on my own. When the owner finally brought the Jackie asked if we wanted it to go plate because our plates were pretty intact and I said no thank you. Honestly I wouldn’t even give this food to a homeless person. Extremely disappointed with the service, the atmosphere and the food. I don’t understand how people review this place so well because it’s not that great. Prices were decent thankfully not worth it in the end. Not for us won’t be going back or recommending it to anyone. We’ve been vegan for almost a year and this was just not for...
Read moreHad a bad taste left in my mouth after eating here for the first time, and it wasn’t from the food.
**TLDR: waiter will lie to you about what level of spicy they gave you and then tell you at the end. Very odd behavior. Wouldn’t eat there again.
My husband and I were on vacation and for our last day decided to go check out this restaurant for a late lunch.
Everything seemed pretty normal except for every interaction we had where the male waiter asked about anything spicy (so when we were asked if we wanted hot sauce, or the spice level of my dish..etc).
My husband has Gerd(really bad heartburn condition) so he can’t do anything spicy.
I on the other hand prefer my food a bit spicy. I don’t shy away from it that’s for sure.
When asked the spice level I wanted my dish I responded and asked how they do it (like a 1-5 level or mild, med, hot?) so I could accurately convey what I want. He didn’t really answer and said “medium”? And I said “yep! Middle of the road is good.”
We get our food and immediately I tell my husband to try mine and it shouldn’t bother him because it’s really not that spicy and proceeded to mention it a couple of times throughout eating.
Waiter comes over and asks me how the spice level is.. I’m not one to really care enough about something like this so I tell him “it’s good” (because the food was actually good and did have some heat to it... just not what I would consider a medium level of spice.)
At the end of our meal while he is getting ready to take our plates away he leans over and awkwardly smiles and says “oh I only made that a spicy level 1. Btw Haha” I’m a bit stunned by this interaction and reply “oh 😅, well it was really good.)
Because what else do you say to that? What was the point of him doing that? I’m not sure. It was a very bizarre thing to do imo. If a customer asks for something and you try to trick them because you think they are lying about what they want.. is that normal?
If we were locals to the area that interaction was enough that I’d never eat there again. I’ve never had such a weird interaction before or had a waiter do...
Read moreWent to this place on a whim with a group of friends after going to the beach in Solana Beach nearby. Most of our group was vegetarian or vegan and wanted to try this place based on a recommendation from another friend.
The menu is extensive and has so many options, and is all vegetarian and vegan friendly. We started off with hot sake and fresh spring rolls which were both delightfully refreshing and delicious. It was a colder winter evening in Encinitas, and we were sitting outside, so the hot sake was welcomed for the evening.
From there, I was delighted to be able to order the duck pad Thai, which again is all vegetarian. It was absolutely delicious and I would for sure come back here again, and order the same thing, or maybe even branch out! The portions were excellent and I was able to take some leftovers home to have for lunch the next day, which is always an added bonus.
We all very much enjoyed our meals and would highly recommend Plumeria vegetarian in Encinitas to anybody that is interested in either vegetarian food or Thai food, or in general just enjoys good food. Thank you very much Plumeria, I will be back again in...
