My experiences here have not been that great. Due to the fact I'm stereotyped almost every time I step through the doors. I'm a native lane county-er, I was born at sacred heart hospital, my parents contributed greatly to the community as they had their own self-employed businesses. My entire family lives here. I've contributed greatly to this community as well, as I've purchased all my furniture, electronics, cars, even my own surgeries here in lane county my entire life. I have a degree in business with an emphasis in accounting that I've used 5 years, putting me at a masters level. I experienced homelessness as the economy crashed, and haven't found my footing since then. I'm not an addict on the streets, and I have never been. But because I am homeless now, while I wait for housing to open up, I'm stereotyped by people my parents were friends with and that knew me as a kid, at the "community center".... and just because they can't recognize me from the past, isn't a good reason to judge me....... I'm me. I'm an excellent person who loves people, always trying to flash a smile to everyone. I was raised Christian all my life. I've spent my life in churches and kingdom halls. I feel very much stereotyped and treated indifferently by the people working there, and managing it there. And I'm not even at the building for very long, to maybe charge my smartphone so I can get offers for jobs. I'm also 50 years old but don't look it (4/16/1969), once again, everyone in there looks at me like I don't belong there. If it wasn't a community center and it was still a senior center, that's senior abuse "to me." I was harassed more than once, for charging my phone. I was harassed for smoking outside the building, which has smoking apparatuses all around it. I watched some of the staff smoke in the grass sometimes, but when I did it (far enough away from building) I was treated like a vagrant. I do have a car, and a storage unit because of the hardships I'm going through right now, but I don't want to be treated this way. I am a normal person and I have nice things(in my storage, waiting to be used in my next place I rent). This is my hometown, and I'm just really disappointed at the community center and how I'm treated there, and that doesn't make me feel like I want to take a class, or shoot a game of pool, use the computers, or have a cup of coffee and chat with some people...
Read moreThis review is not for the Campbell Center but one of the programs they offer. The Campbell Center is great and I love it, but the person they trusted with the senior law services for wills/trusts needs to not be used again. They entrusted Lynda M. Zukaitis, Esq. to help provide services for seniors looking to have reduced rate legal help for trusts/wills. Although the introductory session at the Campbell Center is free, Lynda proceeded to charge $150 an hour for little to no council. She works from home and wanted our first meeting to be in my home, which is outrageous because no senior should ever invite a stranger into their home ever. We met at a public coffee shop where she asked many personal questions prior to us having any kind of an agreement. Her questions were just on a tattered piece of paper and she inscribed my answers on a piece of paper. She did not provide any documentation outlining exactly what she does and how it will work. I had to ask all the questions to her to try to understand something that most seniors do not know how to do. There are more unprofessional landmarks in her meeting but one that stood out was sending me an agreement in the body of an email, not a PDF or attachment, straight up body of an email, wanting me to sign it then send her over $2000 before she did anything. This is not a reduced rate at all, asking to come to my home or a public place to ask personal questions, and using email as your documentation is unprofessional. Anyway, I write this because I lost $150 (I asked her to return my money because she was not making me feel comfortable or assured, but she said no) for nothing and I don't want that to happen to other seniors, and I want Campbell Center to know about...
Read moreI went on three different trips and I will be specific… Number one was supposed to be to Cannon Beach and the center did not know it was closed and we had to go to another place that was inaccessible to half of the people on the trip because of the steep hike down to the ocean. On the second trip, the driver told us that the walk to the Last art gallery was 7 minutes and it was actually 40 minutes; we would’ve ridden the bus if she had accurate information. The last trip was to the high desert museum. The driver did not have a cell phone number for the other driver on the trip and didn’t even know exactly where we were going and had to consult people on the bus as to where it was. One person was missing on our bus as we left and the driver left the museum without that person and didn’t realize it until we were nearly to the highway. 40 minutes later the person was found and it brought us home late. Three strikes. It makes me so sad because these could’ve been fabulous experiences...
