Very worth your $5! It was interesting to learn about the families who lived there through the self guided tour book. The house is really lovely, however, it is a little tacked up with posters on the walls in some rooms advertising current performances, that aren't at the house. I don't know what that's all about, but it ruins the ambiance, imo. There are a lot of interesting pieces throughout the house though, furnishings and decor. There is, unfortunately, a small bug infestation upstairs in a bedroom. Hopefully they get that taken care of. I still give 5 stars though, because I think they are working with a small budget. Please go visit so they have more funds to work with. And they really need to update Google and their website with where to park if you aren't handicapped. There is handicap parking and a ramp in back. And there is an album of pictures you can look at of the upstairs. But you will only be able to access the...

My husband and I visited the house which is under construction. The website posted their hours. I am handicapped and being unfamiliar with the area, we parked at the bottom of the hill and climbed several sets of stairs to the top. Upon reaching the door, there was a hand made sign stating they were closed due to illness. We walked around outside looking at the construction and the trees then made our way down the several flights of stairs. Wish they had posted a sign down below so we didn't have to climb the stairs.

In response to the answer from my review... It was our FIRST time there, we had no idea WHERE the parking was for the house. We definitely WILL park in your lot the next time we arrive. I also understand that employees get sick, my comment was about sign placement for those...

If you’re going to pay for an event make sure you know what restrictions they will have. We went for an event and we’re expecting a tea and food and there was none. We also were not allowed to explore the house at all which was a huge part of why we went in the first place. Lovely house, but not worth the money for the special events. Just do the cheap tour because at least you actually get to see the house. Huge disappointment.

ETA- we paid $60 for two people for the event versus like $5 for an actual tour, don’t waste your money.

Second Edit - what the responder said is not true at all. I have attended teas where you were completely free to explore the upper floors of the house and I know from others that they...

We took a class that included a tour. I can't believe I had never been in this house before. It's really stunning. My favorite thing was this painting of a clown looking at a woman with a baby in the mirror. I've been wondering the story of this painting ever since. It seemed very out place with everything else in the house. I look forward to attending more events here. My kid also really enjoyed the history lessons throughout the whole house.
