By far my favorite park in all of the Eugene/ Springfield area The only two downsides and they are pretty major considering the hiking trails, lack of shade etc etc.. 1 there are no portable toilets/ or public restrooms unless you leave the butte and go all the way down to the north riverside playground that has public restrooms. and last but not least.. They had a water fountain back in the day… but politics?!?, Bologna….. etc etc They have no water for anyone or any furry thing.. Bring your own water…

What a wonderful park. I got about 3 miles in on my walk. It was absolutely gorgeous. Lots of bicycles! I walked along the river on the way out and that was way better than the cement path. There is flower garden too!!!

Skinner Butte Summit: You can hike or drive to the top of the butte for panoramic views of Eugene, the Willamette Valley, and even Spencer Butte. There's also a large "O" emblem for the University of Oregon and a less visible "E" for Eugene High School on the hillside. The Columns Climbing Area: On the western side of the butte, you'll find impressive columnar basalt formations, which are a popular spot for rock climbing. This area was formerly a quarry. RiverPlay Discovery Village Playground: This award-winning, community-designed playground offers a unique experience for children. It features elements that relate to Eugene's history and culture, including a play replica of Skinner Butte, a "Willamette River" ferry, a rain circle, a Kalapuya dwelling, pioneer village scenarios, and a sand dig for "artifacts." Historical Significance: Skinner Butte is considered the birthplace of Eugene, as it was the land claimed by Eugene Skinner, the city's founder. You can find historical markers, including the site of Skinner's original cabin. The park also contains the Shelton-McMurphey-Johnson House, a beautiful Queen Anne Victorian residence. Hiking and Biking Trails: The park offers various trails, including the Skinner Butte Trail, which provides a forested path to the summit, and access to the Ruth Bascom Riverbank Path System (Willamette River Trail), a 12-mile bikeway. Owen Rose Garden: Located near the park, this beautiful garden features a diverse collection of roses and is home to the world's oldest cherry tree. Veterans Memorial: A 12-foot granite memorial wall inscribed with the names of Lane County veterans who perished in wars from World War I through Operation Desert Storm. Amenities: Parking lots Picnic tables Restrooms Drinking fountains Off-street bike/pedestrian paths Ball fields and informal sports/play fields Community garden (Skinner City Farm) Public art Sand play and spray play (at RiverPlay playground) Water spigots The Campbell Senior Center and Lamb Cottage are also located within the park. Skinner Butte Park is a fantastic destination for outdoor recreation, historical exploration, and family fun, offering something for everyone to enjoy in...

Mountain View point is an amazing place to visit. The views are stunning and the experience is truly unforgettable. The mountain range is breathtaking and you can see for miles. The area is also very peaceful and serene, allowing you to relax and take in the beauty of nature. The trails are marked and it is easy to find your way around the area. The facilities are also great, providing restrooms, picnic spots, and benches to enjoy the view. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone who wishes to experience nature in its...
