I used to be a big fan of Morning Glory, but my last experience was unfortunate. I went in on a Monday morning with my mom, who was visiting from out of town. We sat down at a small table outside, and a waitress came over to ask if we needed more time to go over the menu. We said yes. 30 seconds later, a second, different, waitress comes over and asks the same thing. We said yes. 30 seconds later, a THIRD different waitress comes over and asks again. We said, a little more firmly this time, yes, we need more time. Then 30 seconds after that, A FOURTH WAITRESS comes over and asks again!
Seriously, the place is not that big, and you have ALL of your waitresses coming over to one table? Do you not communicate or have sections? I appreciate that they were being attentive, but FOUR waitresses is a little excessive.
Then the kicker. I ordered French toast, and said very clearly, "with the gluten free bread." I have Celiac and I understand that there's probably cross contamination, since they aren't dedicated gluten free, but I haven't had a problem in the past. The waitress even repeated what I said back to me.
Well, the food comes out - brought out by yet another different waitress - and I dig in. A couple bites in, I realize, this is REALLY delicious to be gluten free. And then I look down and think... this doesn't look gluten free, either. I call the waitress over that I placed the order with and ask, and nope, what I've been eating is full-gluten challah bread French toast.
I was not charged for the French toast, and they did bring me out a new one. But messing up on a serious food allergy - especially when you claim to cater to them - is a BIG deal. I was very sick later that day due to the lack of communication between wait staff. I no longer feel like Morning Glory is a safe place for me to eat, and...
Read moreWe came to Morning Glory today to celebrate my partner’s daughter’s 20th birthday and unfortunately, the experience was one of the worst I’ve ever had dining out.
We arrived at 12:30 and were told the wait would be about 25 minutes. No problem, we waited patiently. After 30 minutes passed with no update, I checked in and was told again it’d be another 25 minutes. Despite the confusion, we decided to stick it out. What made it frustrating was that many tables were clearly open. Especially on the patio, yet no one was being seated, and the waitlist didn’t move for a long time. There were multiple groups outside in the sun just… waiting. On top of that, we weren’t even allowed to order drinks besides drip coffee while we waited.
After a full hour, we were finally seated. The service continued to be awkward. Our food sat in the window so long the butter wouldn’t melt. No one checked in on us after our meals were dropped. Thankfully, the birthday girl enjoyed her biscuits and gravy, but my “special” breakfast burrito tasted like something pre-made and thrown together. Not worth $75 for three people.
This experience put a serious damper on a day that was supposed to feel special. The lack of communication, inattentive service, and mid food left us really disappointed. We’ve been coming here for years, but sadly this will be our last dine in visit. A little transparency and communication go a long way, especially when people are trying to...
Read moreHighlights: yummy drinks and the biscuits were quite good. Cute little cafe with nice staff, good prices especially for vegan food Lowlights: food tasted like low quality oils (especially the waffles) and was over spiced. Cafe was quite cold for no reason, it was not a hot day. I really wanted to like this place but the food fell short for a couple different reasons. First, the cacao rasa and matcha was yummy and the highlight of the meal. I was hungry, so I got an omelette and the waffle. The waffle was harder than a funnel cake and tasted like one as well, it tasted like low quality seed oil and made my stomach hurt. The low quality seed oil taste continued to all of the food. The seasoned potatoes (I was so excited for) had way too much seasoning on it and tasted like Spike seasoning, not yummy. Omelette was good, an average omelette over powered by the soysage taste. Overall it just felt like the chefs we're using cheap ingredients, possibly to balance the cost of the "organic when possible" and vegan ingredients. My body definitely confirmed that for me the next day. I value local and organic, small owned cafes so much, this one just didnt do it for me. I almost asked what kind of oil they use, (and what kind of vegan butter) now I wish I had. Its pointless to use organic local ingredients if they're just cooked in cheap seed oils. I would love to be wrong about this, but something tasted and...
