I grew up going to this place, and its had its good days and bad ones, but it is an overwhelmingly positive addition to the surrounding area. Many people don't get out enough for various reasons, and this place makes that pretty convenient as it's an easy stop in to eat lunch, walk with or without a dog, watch the birds, the wind in the trees, or just not be inside for a while. You might see a homeless person or someone might be drinking a beer somewhere along the way, but I personally have never encountered any aggressive activity in the 46 years I've lived in Humboldt County, 40 of which I can remember going to coopers gulch. There are baseball fields, and a small skate park which I actually helped some younger kids at the time petition the city for. It's not a giant redwood forest park, or a small childs play park with equipment, but somehow both of those things in ways. Totally...
Read moreI've been going to this place for years and it has provided a lot of good memories as far as activitiess, family gatherings and just walking around with the dogs for some fresh air and exercise. Has a couple large fields And a disc golf course with some fun little trails to walk your pets or just yourself. The younger humans always have a great time. The reason I give it 4 out of 5 stars is because like many places in eureka it has its ups and downs. Unfortunately it's normally occupied by at least a few of the homeless community who don't believe in using garbage cans which is irritating and disappointing 😔. I hope this problem will be fixed...
Read moreTo say the disc golf course is poorly marked, would suggest that it is marked at all. The infinite possibilities of trails to homeless doo-doo spots that lay before you after each hole are endearing and all, but it would be nice to have some guidance towards: which box you are at, the possible tee placements, and where the next box is. Not difficult and pretty standard. I can see why I was the only one on the "course". It's pretty uninviting to first time visitors. On the other hand, if you walk the course a few times and figure it out, it's actually pretty challenging and has a LOT of potential, which is currently, grotesquely, not...
