Donut Mill — Restaurant in Eureka

The donuts are tasty and fresh, but the service left a lot to be desired. I came in with my son and began choosing our donuts, as we chose, the young man that was assisting us began to box up every donut we chose. When I had chosen about 5 donuts, I asked the young man to count and make sure that's how many we had so far. The young man proceeded to tell us that the box he was working on was not ours but was going to a customer that had pulled up to the drive thru window after we had walked into the store. I was upset by this as he clearly had boxed all of the donuts we had chosen and most of them were the last of their kind. At this point we realized we still had 0 donuts of our own and I told my son to choose some different donuts. As we waited for someone to begin boxing our new order, another customer entered the store behind us, walked up to the counter next to us and began to place their own order. We still had not had a single donut we wanted, and had been skipped over TWICE. It wasn't until I finally told one of the employees how incredibly rudely we were being treated and asked if we were actually going to be helped today at all that we finally managed to get some donuts boxed for us. These are THE best doughnuts I've ever had. In my 40+ years I've become a bit of a donut connoisseur and these are BY FAR the very best ones I've ever eaten. Pillowy packages of goodness, tasty glazes, frosting and fillings. Light as air. Love at first bite. I have a distinct childhood memory of delicious donuts in my midwest hometown and I never thought I'd be able to find that kind of delight again. Enter: Donut Mill in Eureka, CA. This seems like a family-run business and you can feel that warmth and familiarity emanating through the drive-thru window. I found this gem on day one of a 3-day trip to Eureka, and I made my husband come back with me on day 3! We sat inside the second time and I felt like a kid again. The tables with built-in stools look just like the donut shop from my childhood, and it was so nice to sit and eat our donuts, sip our coffees and watch all the regulars come in and be greeted with smiles. I'll continue my search for amazing doughnuts, but I doubt I will ever find any as perfect as the creations from Donut...

I am going to say this . This business has a special place in my heart and I will always be an avid fan and consider it a great fortune to utilize this local artist of donuts . The Donut Mill is a classic and beautiful model of a local family oriented business . The employees are so very charming , respectful , courteous , and generous . I found myself one day with no food and no where to go . The person who was working that day was so nice to me when I entered the business . I was honest and asked him if there was any chance I could have something to eat . That employee was so polite and told me yes and helped me . I cried tears of joy . Thanking every religion known to existence that this place exists and was accommodating to my crisis . I know that this may sound crazy to some , but I cried when I left , I cried .
