We had 3 different groups in different rooms. Did we have fun? Absolutely! But staff didn't go through prior to our visit to ensure that everything was properly set up, and it took some of the fun out of it. Especially for my team.
Our room had a clue that was missing pieces. We spent well over 20 minutes of our time trying to get the combination for a lock that wasn't even placed in the room. The response when we reported that the clue wasn't there was "Well it was there yesterday!"
Another clue we had seemd like it was too touchy. It could have partly been us, because we were very frustrated from the missing clue, but we knew where the pieces went and put the thing together multiple times before we were told to put them together slower and in a specific order. Even then, it took several tries of pulling off and re-placing pieces to open the puzzle.
By the time we finally got to the last stage in our puzzle room, we had spent so much time trying to make the other two clues work for us that we weren't able to finish the room. We were given 5 extra minutes, but I don't think it made up for the time we lost trying to figure out the clue that wasn't in the room. It pretty much ruined the experience for me.
One of the other teams mentioned that they had a broken lock, and another accidentally hit a switch that did something to reset the room. Two of us had clues that were already open before we started, and we were told after we started had to be put back because we didn't unlock them yet.
The setbacks we had have me torn on whether or not I would actually go back or recommend. It was fun, but it would be better if staff ensured their equipment is in working order, and that their rooms have everything they need in them prior...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWent for my bday with my brother and my bestie... it was fun. Not quite what I was expecting, but it's definitely a fun way to kill an hour or so on a dreary April day in Fairbanks. Puzzles were difficult (a couple a bit TOO difficult š³), but the challenge made it interesting. The guide was helpful without being overly involved and helped out at the right times with the right amount of help to keep it fun and engaging without just giving us the answers. I would suggest that you try one of the less challenging rooms if you're not familiar with the way these puzzle rooms operate, or I fear the learning curve will make it not so much fun, as it would be frustrating. Would be fun to bring two groups of competitive friends to do some type of timed race kinda thing. Overall, it's a fun distraction that's thought evoking, not just mindless entertainment. I recommend it to anyone who's a low-key nerd,...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreMy wife and I have done over 30 escape rooms across the country as a team. While we enjoyed most of the puzzles in the bomb squad, we didn't enjoy some aspects. First, the clue master should never step into the room to give a clue. It ruins the experience. Suggest using the phone or give walkie talkies. Second, some of the game pieces have errors with corrections on them. Suggest redoing those game pieces to keep the game clean and not throw people off. Last, there are at least 2 puzzles that are most likely impossible to understand without asking for a clue. There should always be something that connects the dots. Even when explained after we completed the game, we were still confused how to get the answer without randomly guessing. The game master was very nice...
