I recently went here because I shopped Dillard's faithful for over 15 years when I lived out of state. Their staff members were always professional and courteous. I decided to stop here at the fairview store because I needed a pair of shoes for work. After wearing them at work only once, I knew I needed to return them because they weren't a good fit for all day wear. When I presented the shoes to the cashier She took them out the Box and looked at them. I advised her that I only wore them once. She tossed the shoes back in the box then she went into the backstock room and another young lady came forward. I believe she was the department manager. With out asking me any questions she began to berate me in front of other customers and advised me of a double lost she would take for the fact that I had wore the shoes. I advised her that I understood but I wasn't aware of the no return policy. Yes the soles were somewhat dirty from walking on the pavement but the the top and inside the shoes looked brand new. I told her; I'm sorry that I wasn't aware of their policies. Then she became apologetic to me. I took my shoes and left. I have always like Dillard's but now I'm no longer gong to shop this store. As a new resident I was taken aback by the lack of professional Etiquette. I'm appreciative of the St. Clair mall for being open to the community and not having to close permanently during to our economic crisis, But customer care...
Read moreThe security guards and police there were harassing a customer of course he's African-American telling him that he was disrespectful to the mall security. The guy was like so. He was not loud or obnoxious. The customer did not feel like he was a child and they were all trying to treat him like one. I kindly returned everything I had purchased from all the stores and told my 8 year old son in front of them that you should never be treated like that. Based upon what we observed, the security guard spoke to the man and he did not speak back. The security guard spoke again and the customer laughed. He then asked him to see his ID. The customer said why do I have to show you that. The security guard said because you do. Th customer walked away and then the police and security were both talking to him about being disrespectful and that he needed to show him his ID. The man said why and they kept hounding him about it. I kindly said to the man that he should, get their badge numbers and names, call and report it, but comply even though they have no probable cause. I then told my son that we were going to return everything we bought and go eat somewhere else. They left the man alone, but it still was incorrect to do in the 1st place. I nor my family will...
Read moreAt the mall now trying to find a working elevator for my stroller/children. After trying every store and food court, they are all out of service. I called to speak with the General Manager and he argued with me about there being a working one in JCPenny. I told him that it did not work, employees have to walk downstairs to push the button for it to move up if a customer wants to use it and it is very slow and will not go back up unless being pushed from the downstairs level. Idk who would willingly get into a barely working elevator, especially with children, but it's not going to be anyone sane. I suggested there be signs put up at entrances and he said "that would imply that there aren't any working elevators when there is"... Even though the only "working" elevator is hanging on by a thread. He then hung up. So if you want to watch people on wheelchairs attempt to navigate escalators or parents with toddlers throw strollers down escalators while carrying children/children screaming on escalators, then feel free to go shop here and keep paying the jerk of a GM who has zero understanding of customer service or what sort of safety risk he has created by letting every...
