I was looking for somewhere to eat my lunch after a doctor's appointment in the area and found this gem! There are two smaller picnic areas, but nice. The parking is limited with less space currently due to work being done on the historical Denny cabin. There is another historical cabin as well that is open on certain Saturdays. I took a photo of the current schedule. There is a relatively easy boardwalk loop to walk through this wetland bog. I have pain and mobility issues so took it slow, but I'm guessing it would be a quicker walk for others. You could go on the boardwalk with a wheelchair though bumpy and a bit uneven in places. I tried to get pictures that will help you decide if your specific needs can be met if you also have mobility issues etc. There were lots of birds singing and beautiful sights and lovely smells (a mock orange was still in bloom) for those like my husband who can not hear the birds. I'll leave the particulars about the wetlands to my pictures. Take a picture of the map or refer to my picture of the map as many signs seem to be missing. There is an outhouse that looks better on the outside then inside, but I was grateful it was there! It's pretty dark inside. And a bit smelly when the...

Edit: Went by this park today and on the far end of the boardwalk there was a shirtless man wielding a machete, hitting the wooden railing in a very aggressive manner. He was screaming loudly and I was quite worried about the other joggers I saw and walkers. Please use extreme caution going through this park, especially alone. I called police immediately and they responded. Hope they all were ok. I cannot stress this enough though to be safe at this park. I may never go back here to this park unless I have my firearm on me. Dude was at least 6' 2" and large muscular in shape. Definitely not someone you want to anger.

The park is very neat small meadow type area into a huge swampy forest trail. Most of the walk is a raised boardwalk and really slippery but not too bad for me. I got to the very end by the lake viewpoint and heard an erie scream, I kept thinking this place might be haunted? Spooked me enough to make me walk back. Then I got a little lost and had to use GPS to make my way out. Overall it was exciting and fun. Saw a lot of frogs and a bunny on the way out. Definitely lock your vehicle and take all...

This historic site has a great set of marked trails that takes you into the weltands. The path has many signs with details of the plants and trees in the area. Many kids and adults have been "Rocking" the area with painted rocks. If you are not participating, please leave the rocks for others...unless you really like them XD Keep or rehide and share your finds. Rocking gets kids as well as adults out in nature doing a fun activity that requires no batteries or wifi. Be careful when walking the trails with children, there are large male trapdoor spiders that have been seen walking the paths as well as snakes and other creatures you may not want to come in contact with. This is location #5 (sign missing) and #6 of the Eagle Scouts Geo-Trek of FederalWay. However the sign for #5 is not at the entrance as it should be. It would have said to follow the trails 3/4 mile down to the lookout. The final sign can be found at the end of the trails overlooking the water you can see the Brook Lake...

Not a traditional park, Hylebos Wetland Park features a small picnic area with 2 or 3 tables and a trail through a wetland full of native plant and animal life. The boardwalk at this park makes the 2-mile loop doable for the whole family from toddlers to grand parents. Be careful not to fall off as there is no railing for the majority of its narrow length. As you enjoy nature in this park, try to notice the effects of human activity everywhere you turn: footprints, litter, and trodden plants in the mud beside the trail; invasive blackberry brambles covering much of the park; and noise from cars and planes in even the deepest part of this Park. This is not a criticism of the park but of you and me. When our grandchildren see what we've left for them, will they see nature or wasteland?
