Couldn't get backup caregiver trained. Patient switched to hemo dialysis. Couldn't sit with him so we were talking on phone. He started coughing and having an extremely hard time breathing. All I could do was listen to him struggle. Finally someone came to check on him. They treat their patients as if there only problem is with their kidneys. My husband had many medical problems long before kidney problems. He has had sinus problems for years. The VA stopped counting his disabling conditions at 400% since they only pay 100%. This was years before the kidney issues. For them to ignore his breathing issues could have been life threatening. They did finally come check on him and gave him some oxygen. Listening to a love one struggle and not being able to help is very frightening. These patients are not just dialysis patients. Many had medical issues long before kidney failure. I called regarding my mother and the 1st number was to a person whom was a switch board operater who was nice . she gave the real number for the facility. After jumping through that hoop, for no reason I did reach out and was transferred to the receptionist ext which was just a bunch of static for a vm?? I called two times thinking "there's no way this facility is this bad", but I was wrong!!!! Remember, if people need help it's your responseabiity as a heatlh facility to provide a person in office one can speak with. Please for the sake of the community do better!! It's your job. Shame...
