Beach is beautiful and dog friendly. The only part that I find personally frustrating is that most people have their dogs off the leash. Completely. No collar either. I understand letting the dogs have a space to run and play but I keep my dog on a leash and just drop the leash to let her run ONLY WHEN their aren’t any other animals in her line of sight. My dog is a very good girl she loves people and she is friendly to all people. But I am trying to train her to understand that smaller yappy dogs are not rodents and not a threat. But it makes it difficult to get my dog to understand this when almost everyone at the beach has their dogs running freely, leading to approaching my dog and barking with an aggressive stance, and they keep coming closer and closer and following us, all while barking at us, until they are within snap range. my dog isn’t going to allow another animal especially one smaller than herself, to come anywhere near myself or my kids. Especially barking! Then, everything we’ve learned that day gets tossed out the window and my dog feels the need to defend herself and her people. Which isn’t exactly fair and a double standard. If my dog approached someone else in this same manner, my dog would be perceived as aggressive and a nuisance. potentially leading to legal ramification for me, all because her breed is a pitbull mix. She’s the best, most well behaved, sweet, gentle, cuddly, obedient, house trained, dog I have ever owned or known. She won’t even urinate or go number two in her own yard! It’s the craziest thing I’ve ever known an animal to do, or not do, I should say. My point is people if you don’t want your little dogs to get snapped up by someone else’s bigger dog, get your animals under control before one of your dogs gets hurt out of fear from the victim. Your dogs are the aggressor in this situation and your “slow as hell walk pace” to come and retrieve your bite sized animal is anything but appreciated. When you see someone holding a leash tightly as their dog is standing in a defensive posture on the other end, this should be a sign to pick up the pace and get your animals harassment in check quickly. I’m small, my dog is strong, my grip may slip on that leash and then one bite sized less yappy dog to worry about in the...
Read moreNice beach ... unfortunately there are a LOT of off leash dogs, making it a bad idea for me to take my dog there. Sign clearly states "all dogs must be leashed". My dog loves people, but doesn't play well with other large dogs and that's what was mainly seen off leash. Ill be the responsible dog owner and not take my dog here. The people are great, but let's all follow the rules so everyone can...
