Very hard to get to. No parking. Next to bar and busy street. Broken down benches. Walk up window. Waiting over 3 minutes at window for service. Can't see thru window really well but enough to see more than one employee. And 3 big black garbage bags in the little room next to ice cream. Order 2 pup cups and one scoop of ice cream. Just one person. I received my pup cups within 1 minute. Stood stupidly for 2 more minutes waiting for my one scoop of ice cream. The payment screen is tip required $1 $2 $3 dollars while the 2 employees stare at you and do not begin to make your order until you click tip. I tipped $2 on a $5.60 order. $7.60 for a scoop of ice cream and two tiny cups of whip cream. Needless to say the service and the environment do not warrant that. Won't be back. They don't give you napkins. Someone came up to ask for some and the girl at the window with my pup cups wanted to know what he wanted quite bluntly . .. not a very happy place. .. the ice cream is not really ice cream to speak about. It was literally like fat free no taste ice cream. .. not sure what the appeal is here .. the lack of ice cream places around? Maybe it they opened a drive thru and were a little quicker to greet customers. Also making a scoop of ice cream doesn't seem like it should warrant 3 minutes when there was nobody else...
Read moreRude service and disgusting ice cream. Went there last weekend for my daughter and ordered one scoop in cup for her. We never go out but this was supposed to be a treat for her. The girl inside was rude short with me. And didn’t start making the order until I clicked the tip screen. She just stared at me. After I clicked the screen she closed her sliding door. She made it and gave it to me. I said thank you and it’s our first time here. She didn’t talk. Just closed the door. My daughter got Half way through eating her ice cream she yelled out eww there is a hair! My husband and I checked and sure enough, there was about a 3 inch long black thick hair in it! None of us have that type of hair. I’m so disgusted that we paid $6 (so overpriced) for one scoop of ice cream with rude service and ended up not being able to finish it because there was a disgusting hair mixed into the ice cream. The hair was not on top but mixed into the ice cream. This is not ok. What is happening to the food service industry! Also it seems that parents are not teaching their children to be respectful. Don’t work in the service industry if you don’t like serving others. We could all do without the attitude and eye rolling. Won’t be going...
Read moreNot quite the same vibe as the Cocoa Beach locale, but still very good...
This Fat Donkey is located at the north west corner one of the busiest intersections of all Brevard County, quite a polar opposite place than the sister location in Cocoa Beach. And though the outdoor facade is as welcoming as the other one, the rest of it just doesn't have the same vibe. Maybe it's the neighboring businesses whose store fronts aren't much to look at, or maybe it's the traffic zooming by just feet away, but this just ain't the same if you've ever been to their northern instance.
Anyway, as far as the ice cream is concerned, this stuff is top-notch. The soft-serve is creamy, their "Zonkey" which includes soft-serv and sorbet is brilliance. There's nothing like it that I am aware of at any ice cream shop. The hard-packed stuff is superb. I had a scoop of the Butterscotch Bomb and a cherry ice cream with chocolate and cherries - both of them were awesome. Others in our party had chocolate favorites filled with marshmallow, chocolate and peanut butter ribbons - everybody walked away happy.
Will I come back again, sure, I'll stop there anytime in the area and with a hankering for some really, very good...
