Cozy, quiet, shopping strip which feels quite safe (there is also a visable police pressence in the area). There are a variety of shops and food options available in this long strip center. The customers are varied enough that one doesn't feel as if they entered a heavily racially segregated area (like a black ghetto or "lil mexico" or Whitey McWhiteville). There are many young hip, college students in the area so due to the location there is a slight white majority - but it's not like University Park on the other side of town which it is heavily populated by upper class peoples and almost exclusively white on your average day (not to say others are unwelcome there - but seriously what group of people goes to a special store just for their dining and cooking wares?) Back in Westover Villiage Palace. It is quiet, and is well separated from the main road, though still easily and directly accessed - there are also several streets dividing Westover Village Place into sections which reduces traffic around any one shop and improves pedestrian safety. (I like the name, matches the surrounding community and "feel" of the locale well). This is VERY different from University Park where it is extremely busy, loud, bustling, and crowded basically all the time. (Pedestrian danger zone). Westover Village is peaceful but no ghost town. Thats all that needs to be said in comparison. Note that there are multiple signs placed at the middle and end which list numerous shops. The signs on the pillar at the left end are the same as those on the right and center. Therefore one must use the internal streets to reach the desired destination for the larger shops which cannot be seen clearly from the main road unless one knows exactly which turnoff to use to enter the correct section. The Village Place is divided with three entrances and their respective cross streets inside the Village. Once off the main road (183 or Alta Mere) and inside the Village Palace it is easier to see one's...
Read moreFilled to the brim with local delights and wonders, Westover Village place is the ultimate buffet of experiences to excite the senses. If you have an itch for food try one of the many options like McDonald's or Firehouse Subs. Only after going into fire house subs in full Dom-leather gear did I find I had made a grave mistake. Turns out they make sandwiches and are NOT in fact a firehouse where subs can be found. However after that setback, and a change of clothes, I took a stroll through Petco, where I was once again shocked to find I had made a mistake. This is not a company run by pets. It is actually a store that sells animals to be kept as pets. Disappointed, I took a trip to the half price books where nothing was half price. It was at this point I was simply frustrated beyond belief and decided it was time to lighten up. So I finally popped into party city at the very end. Look, I'm no expert but I'm tired of the poor naming of these stores. There was party related stuff but there was neither a party or a city. I don't understand why they were so upset when I asked to speak to the mayor. Anyway, if you need some places to shop, it is what it is. But for the love of God, please rethink your deceptive signage. I didn't even bother to see what they had inside the Panda Express. I knew it would just be...
