Downtown Bay City — Attraction in Frankenlust Township

Uptown Bay City has got to be a model city! Being on the river of Saginaw Bay, you see large ships come through. The town area has a park and band shell which puts on amazing free concerts June - August 20. Grab your lawn chairs and join everyone. Easy free parking, even bus service. All the buildings are full of businesses. Coffee shop, hand made candy, bakeries, all kinds of restaurants, a lot have outside seating. After living downtown for awhile, I can tell you this place is a hidden gem. I grew up going to Grand Rapids (for about 7 years in a row) and Bay City offers everything that a big city like GR does, but at a more personal level. I love the interaction at the bars and restaurants, and cant get enough of the special events that are offered throughout the spring, summer, and fall; Sure the winters are slow, but welcome to Michigan! I truly appreciate what the community has to offer and I hope that I can continue to enjoy...

Bay City used to be an up and coming place. Things are trending in a different direction though. They don't have Hop Riot anymore. They do get some decent concerts, but the influx of pot shops is bringing it down and the crime seems to rise. Hopefully they will fix things before they get beyond hope and get as bad as Saginaw oh, don't forget about the highway robbery bridges. Avoid the 2 northern bridges...
