Tavern 101 — Restaurant in Bay City

I normally never leave poor reviews, but today was too much.

We got our seats, and order was taken promptly, but everything went downhill from there. People sat down after us and got their drinks before us. We ordered popcorn, and the other waiter plus ours delivered popcorn to all the other tables, even seconds. We kindly asked a second time, our waiter went to the table next to us and started complaining about people asking for popcorn over and over again when they were clearly busy. I ordered and stated I had an allergy, so whatever the cooks needed to withhold they could so I didn’t get sick, he gave me attitude about that. Waited forever for our meal, our meal beat our popcorn out. My chicken was so over done it was like rubber. I was afraid to say anything but I did, he took $2 off my meal. I paid 10.50 for dry lettuce and a sprinkle of cheese. We asked for a second tray of popcorn, because I was pretty hungry at this point and it was never delivered. It was overall a really poor experience. I normally am very understanding, considering I know how things can be if you’re short staffed but I seen other servers going above and behind, being kind to their tables. I probably will...

Starting off, 4 stars is for great service out on patio- Thank you Alex! She was a lot of fun! Would be 5 if the food was up to par with the service. Was looking forward to an Ahi Tuna salad, but the tuna was over done to the point that after I tried it I actually questioned if it was pork. Was very hungry and didn't feel like haggling with the kitchen -I ate it. Was not by any means a meal I would eat again there. The combination of flavors was not for me. It was sprinkled with feta, had medium boiled eggs and dressing choices did not really do this any justice. I got a balsamic vinaigrette. The Mediterranean thing wasn't really happening for me. Would be much better, in my opinion to have a rare piece of tuna with an Asian inspired flare. Maybe sesame vinaigrette with blood oranges/honey/lemongrass/ginger or something, black sesame sprinkled on top. Just saying. Other items on menu looked pretty good, Cauliflower steak for example. Need more than one soup I think- how bout gazpacho?? Or ceviche?? It is summer!! They hand patty fresh burger there, so next time I will go for that. This may be the worst restaurant that tries to project a good reputation in Bay City. Their location is excellent but wasted. This is the second time in the last two weeks that I’ve been there. The first time was a Friday night when a friend came into town from California and it was a little busy. I can honestly say at my age(over 60years old) I’ve never been in a bar that ran out of so many beers and wines on a Friday evening before 9 o’clock. Tonight (Labor Day afternoon around 4) we headed over after golf. No Cabernet of any kind, two Bud Lights in bottles ( wanted another) no Busch Light, my wife asked for a glass of water and never got it, ordered chicken Alfredo and it came to the table cold and with very little sauce and the bread was untoasted white. The waitress tried hard and we left her a nice tip but she told us stories of how embarrassed was having to continually try to explain why things weren’t in stock.
