Sales experience was consultative and without typical attempts to pack on warranties, upgraded cabling, special fuses and many other things I’ve seen audio installers try to pump up the price. Unfortunately, that’s where the good faded. The female installer needed 3 hours beyond the estimated pickup time including an hour after we were told it was ready to pick up. When the truck was brought out, it didn’t sound great- despite being told these were very high quality speakers and amp. The truck install was shotty and the rear speakers quit making sound the day after. Then the next day, the entire system stopped. It came back on hours later, but continues to go out and come back on. We will have time to get it in late this week, but I cannot trust the woman to repair it. I will insist on the tenured fellow that has been there for years. After the money I spent, I expect a quality and reliable sound system. If you visit the Frisco location, I’d be weary if the installer is the woman. She’s a full figured woman, if there are more than one. TRIP #2 Purely out of convenience, we decided to take our sins car to get window tint and a rub buffed out. I was told $100-150 while completing the purchase detailed above. I couldn’t get away, so my wife followed him to drop it off. When she got the, the quote changed. Now, buffing the rub would require $350 because “it would look funny if only that area were clean and shiny, so we need to do a full detail”- not a wash, a full detail. On a BMW 2 series. $350? In addition, the window tint quote was inflated since the phone call the day prior (which suggests the price it at whatever they think they can get- there’s only a minimum they must get). In the first number, she was shown $850 to include the two side doors (and mini-light windows) plus the rear. The new thing is a windshield ‘tint’ that protects the dash from splitting in the heat. My wife called and relayed this info and I laughed out loud. They were trying to smack her because she is a woman and doesn’t know much about this stuff- it just sounded like allot to her. I spoke with him and we agreed on half of the original quote without the car wash and windshield tint. We still paid too much, but she was there and I didn’t want to start over to save $125. In conclusion, they will take advantage of less knowledgeable customer, so research what you want to get and know the prices. Before you work with a salesperson, find the components you want online to get a comparative price. If necessary, you can bring in merchandise purchased elsewhere for install and pay a labor rate. But, since they’re sun ungodly slow, I’d recommend agreeing to a flat price like “how long would you expect this will take?” Then “really, that seems a bit high to me?” Which likely get some time knocked off. Then do some quick math (hours quoted x 80-125 labor rate based on your area) then offer that as a flat rate so you don’t...
Read moreMy first visit to this location was a good one and the service was great and they helped me find the things that I wanted. That is where this good ends. I got 2 JBL subwolfers and an amplifier. At first they worked very well. Within 3 weeks they blew out. I believed this to be my fault because I didn't break them in with low levels of bass first like I was advised to. I purchased the blanket insurance, so they were replaced free of charge. I kept it at a low level to break it in. I upped the bass level slowly overtime and had no problems. Then after about 4 months they blew out again. Me being a working student, I don't have much time on my hands to begin with and on my off days, I run errands and do homework that I can't do during the working week. I came to the location and spoke to the sales representative and she did work with me. I asked for a refund and she stated they have a 30 day return policy ( I knew this prior to my visit because I did some research into their policy). I'm a very calm headed individual and I understand that she is only following policy so I asked to speak to someone higher then her like a GM. She spoke to her GM and he stated the same thing. I took my issue up the ladder another step. The sales rep called and spoke to her Regional manager who would look over my issues and get back into contact with me the next day during the morning because today was full of meetings. That is fine with me but I never received a call that next morning. I gave the store a call and managed to get on the phone with the RM. She gave me 2 options, the first being they would come and pick the car up from me and would have the system completely replaced and give me some upgrades for my troubles plus she would have her garage Manger do a full inspection of my vehicle and make sure everything is working. My second option was that she was going to give me a full refund minus labor for the previous 2 visits. The first option was very tempting but I thought why wouldn't the garage manager have looked it over after the first incident and what would have happened if I hadn't had my insurance. I choose the refund and they would not charge me to pull everything out. I setup the appointment for the next week. I came in and they had everything out within 30 minutes. I would not suggest car toys if you are looking for quality equipment and good installation. If you do choose car toys be sure to get the insurance or you will regret it. I gave this 2 stars as opposed to 1 star because the lady sales rep that helped me...
Read moreEveryone was very nice and I had a decent experience, I will say considering what I had done the cost was a bit extreme. There was a corporate higher up there that initially sold me and gave me an estimate, he of course left halfway through after his visit with the shop. He stated more than once it may take 2-3 hours but we will definitely do you right and make you a deal, “we’ll take care of you don’t worry” it ended up taking 3.5 hours and the only the basic work was done , nothing exceptional, and of course no deals were done! I paid every cent of the hourly rate. And all I had done was had an existing system that was in the truck that had been semi disconnected, hooked back up. And that is all I asked for since this was to be temporary until I could have a permanent “custom “ system done. So the technician took the time to strip and re cover all wires and reorganize everything etc etc. I don’t know if this was in order to juice the clock or just because they want to do a very professional job even though I just asked for tunes nothing special, but had they just hooked it up as I asked and it hadn’t cost so much for this, I may have had time to add some additional equipment and work for example there is no antenna hooked up so I have no radio signal at all which we found out at the end but at this point i had to go and didn’t want to spend another $169 or more an hour for that. While I appreciate the attention to detail on something temporary it was very costly for a temporary solution and a it doesn’t even sound good but that is partially the equipment and partly no time left to upgrade anything. Had they been more concerned about my time they would’ve probably sold some equipment. So it makes me think hard about the custom work I’ll be doing later and where to have it done. Unfortunately places like car toys have the monopoly for the most part in niche markets like this so it is a very difficult process to go through. But all in all they did what I asked , it just could’ve been handled better I feel and it would’ve been to both...
