I absolutely loved it here! First time really checking it out I went along on a class trip for my daughter's class & we adored the adventure! They have it obviously in Moody Mansion first off which is so very very very cool to have the kids museum in such a historic, beautiful & historically rich building! The aesthetics alone for the kiddos is really really unique & special bc there's so many things about the property & building right away to them that's gonna be different or new or surprising just simply because of progress & living in such different looking homes now with such different capabilities & materials & such than the time period of it being built. Such a wonderful way to not only preserve history in that building, but to teach with it & use it & repurpose it to encourage the learning of history itself. The charming use of this old mansion made the atmosphere right away feel conducive to the kids being able to be curious & inquisitive & interested... It's like a tour of the building & of history but at the same time encountering different learning activities & concepts & tasks during it for them to explore & enjoy & solve. The stations were all very hands on, creative & educational as well as fun, cute & often crafty. The kids had a blast & as an adult I still found a lot of information, facts & pieces of history along the way to keep my attention & interest as well. There's plenty of space here too being a mansion & all lol... So there's plenty of room for kids to play & kinda run around & explore on their own a little within the marked off areas like... The outside area is massive for the little ones & they really can get a feel for exploring the grounds a bit on the outside area of the place. The whole thing overall wasn't too long for a kid but wasn't too short to not be worth the time or money to attend & experience the place. It was an overall very positive experience & quite memorable to her even at that young of an age... She can still recall the event fairly well to this day & she is 11 years old now. For being a school trip I feel like the management or whatever handled it well, I didn't feel like it was just chaotic or aimless or a free for all or anything... Which happens when going to any establishment with a large group of kids all too easily I'm sure, lololol. I think the walk & tour kinda thing through the activities & building seemed to be fairly well set up & executed. I would like to go back now with her a little older & us going on our own & separate from an entity this time to check it out a little differently & more in depth, so I've only gone with an organized group but this far all I've experienced & read & known of the place has been overwhelmingly positive. Def recommend a trip if you have smaller children or if you're an adult I know the Moody Mansion tour side is a great place to learn some history about the island & that building itself as it's got quite a history of it's own. The preserved older buildings & architecture here are very prideful points of interest & history here for Galveston & it's locals... We love the rich history preserved in these locations & keeping it alive through education & experiences is important... It's lovely to see Galveston & the community here make such an effort to preserve, remember & share it's history! Highly recommend checking the place out, great experience! Great way to learn about the actual island a little bit too, as an adult or a...

We recently hosted my son's second birthday party at Galveston Children's museum and it went better than I could have planned ! We love attending the Galveston Children's museum with my 5 and 2 yo boys. It does not get as crowded as the Houston Children's museum which makes it easier for my little ones to run around without fear of being toppled over. I also feel many of the activities/displays are geared towards younger children which is perfect for my kids.

We decided to have my son's birthday party there because we were looking for an inside party location that would be fun for my sons and keep them busy.

From the moment we arrived to set up, the staff was prepared and ready to help. Abi and Amethyst brought a cart to our car to help bring in the party decorations and supplies. They then helped us quickly put all the decorations up providing suggestions for where decorations usually work best in the space, but they were completely open to my ideas. They have everything you might need or forget to bring including a piñata rope and stick!

After the party reservation time had passed, they helped us move all food and decorations I still wanted to use outside to some picnic tables they have under trees. They told me not to worry about throwing away trash or decorations I didn't want to keep. Anything I left in the space they would clean up!

I should mention, included in the price for the party is all day passes to the museum for all guests. This means even once the party room reservation time is passed, you and your guests can stay in museum for the rest of the day if you want to.

Abi and Amethyst surpassed my expectations as far as party hosts go. The museum is such an enjoyable experience for anyone with small children. And they went above any beyond making the party experience enjoyable for us. I would host a party here again...

If you live in Galveston County, and have kids under the age of 8, you need to go here. They curators at this little gem have done a ton is such a small space! They have over 15 stations (more when it is nice weather outside) and they are constantly rotating many of them. This place is more of a creative play and exploration area versus museum, but it is amazing! Staff are friendly and helpful. It is always clean and straightened. I've always felt comfortable letting my 4 year old wander around to her heart's content, without feeling the need to hover or what not. If you go, and pay for your entrance fee and love it (which you will) you can always go back to the desk and put your entrance fee from that day towards a yearly membership, which comes with some perks of it's own. I would highly recommend doing this, as you will probably be back monthly, if not weekly! All in all, best membership we have...

WOW!!!! Moody Mansion is a must see! What an amazing family and history they have. Their endeavors and contributions to society reach way beyond the boarders of Galveston,Texas. I have lived here most of my life and had not been inside to take the tour. Amazing home! I would have loved to have met the Moody family. Although wealthy, they seemed like very well rounded, ethical people. Living in a time when your word was your bond. The Moody's set the standard high and kept their word. The Children's Museum was incredible! I think a family could make memories of a wonderful day spent together at Moody Mansion and Children's Museum!

A very unique children museum, tinkering area where they explore and create, ingeniering, mechanical, imaginary, the set up in a basement of a mansion gives a vintage unique touch, full of lights, outdoor area to explore with water, and big building blocks. Toys and majority are wood giving a natural approach great for children, not overly busy with lights and noises which are a distracting factor in many museums. Art area with set up tables where they come and make their art, play with play dooh and visit the bearded dragon. Great museum!
