My recent visit to Huli Hut was, to put it mildly, a study in frustration, and it had nothing to do with the food. The issue stemmed from a decision by management that demonstrates a staggering lack of consideration for the customer experience: their QR code menu. Now, I'm not opposed to QR code menus in principle. When done right, they can be convenient and efficient. What Huli Hut has done is the polar opposite. Instead of creating a simple, mobile friendly webpage, they took the laziest, most thoughtless route imaginable: the QR code links directly to a full sized PDF file of their physical menu. The result is an absolute mess on a smartphone. Reading the menu requires an infuriating amount of pinching, zooming, and panning across a massive digital document that was clearly never designed for a small screen. It's impossible to compare items without endlessly scrolling back and forth. It's a user experience so obviously flawed that a child could point out the problems. It screams that zero thought, literally none, went into how a customer would actually use this. When I expressed my frustration, our server informed us that the manager is "really pushing" the QR code system. To learn that this initiative comes from the top only deepens the disappointment. It suggests a management team so focused on their own internal logic, perhaps the ease of updating a single PDF file, that they are completely blind to the cumbersome experience they're forcing on their patrons. To add insult to injury, when I asked for a physical menu, I was told they were only available if I "couldn't get the QR code working." So, the solution to their poorly implemented system isn't to provide a better one, but to treat a physical menu like a rare accommodation. It's baffling because creating a basic, responsive webpage for a menu is incredibly simple and inexpensive. The fact that Huli Hut chose this brain dead, low effort path reflects a profound disregard for their customers. It's a clear signal that customer convenience is a low priority, sacrificed for a "progressive" initiative that, in its current form, is a...
Read moreMy experience at your establishment was less than good. I have enjoyed eating at the Huli Huli Hut, which had been good until Wednesday, January 15, 2025. I orederd by food to go. When I ordered. I requested that the order be right. When my order came out. I paid my bill and left . I got home only to discover that my fried were not freshly prepa. Shrimpimp kisses were over cooked to the point that they were black on part of the shrimp kisses. I ate the shrimp kisses because I had a second order of catfish, hushpuppies, shrimp kisses over onion rings. To my surprse, the order was grossly horrible. The food was equally burnt and tasteless. I returned the meal to the restaurant . The female manager's attitude towards me for returning the meal was less than professional. She snapped at me when asking what I wanted. She offered to refund my money. I declined the refund because I have never had a bad experience at your restaurant. The second order was prepared. I checked the order before leaving the restaurant. The hushpuppies were burnt. I refused the order. My credit card was credited for the meal. When the manager was applying the credit to my credit. The manager says I should free not to return and accessed me of being rude. Of course I will never return to your restaurant. I am not sure why I was treated so rudely, but I am most definitely letting everyone know that customer service and the new cook are less...
Read moreBest seafood I've had on the island . I highly recommend this restaurant . The restaurant is not huge and I'm sure it gets very crowded after 6 because the food and drinks are amazing . We went at 4 pm because we had my two toddlers . I was unsure if it was a kid friendly restaurant , but they loved it and they had a great kids menu . My kids got the chicken and it was real chicken fried up fresh. Our food was phenomenal . Below is a picture of the stuffed flounder . OMG , I hate eating fish and I loved this dish . We went back the next night so I could order it . The second night we ordered takeout and it was so hot and well prepared in the food containers . The other dish pictured is the stuffed shrimp . Wow , those babies were gone quick . They were huge and STUFFED!! Every bite was better than the next. My only complaint is that the waitress had limited knowledge of the menu . I asked for a certain drink on the menu and she said they didn't have it , she suggested another drink . When I asked her what was in it she said she wasn't sure . I waited thinking she was going to ask , but she never did . She also was very distracted . She started to take our drink order and walked away mid order . We just looked at each other confused . However, she did get everything right on the order and she checked on us several times . Put this restaurant on your list to visit . If you live within the area it's worth a...
